Our focus is on learning from mistakes, Andrew Fuller states it well: At school we know that geniuses make mistakes. People who achieve a lot know that you have to make mistakes to learn. In fact, learning often involves making a mistake and then figuring out what went wrong. If you get too scared to make a mistake, you will not do anything different or new in your life and that would be, well, a mistake! This weekend at the Freds Pass show Humpty Doo Primary will be represented in partnership with Palmerston Rural Schools to promote Government Education in our region. I will be at the stand on Sunday morning, please come along and say hello. While some of us are at the show, many of our staff members, parents and students will be up early on Sunday to participate in the Mothers Day Classic. Go The Dooteam! In recognition of parent feedback, School Council updated and ratified our Homework Policy. We acknowledge students are involved in family activities, many participate in extra-curricular activities and students need time to be creative and rest. Commencing Term 3, homework will be provided as follows: Transition students to receive sight words. Transition to Year 2 students receive daily home readers. Students Year 3-6 below PM Reading Level 25 continue to access home readers. Wide reading of student choice is encouraged for all learners every day. Further homework will be offered to students through an opt- in policy where families can choose to access weekly homework. Tasks that reinforce learning from class and that are at an appropriate level for the individual student will be provided when families opt-in to homework. An opt-in letter will be sent home at the beginning of Term 3. Staff and students have been working hard on creating an agreed upon behaviour map with clear expectations. Please see the completed map on page 4. As our weather has cooled the classrooms can be chilly, please encourage your child to bring a jumper in to stay warm. Have a wonderful Mothers day— Mothers hold their childrens hands for a while, but their hearts forever.Kind regards, Ali Brady, Acting Principal Dentist 89226466
