Principal’s News

Congratulations Ms Kaitlin, our wonderful Preschool Assistant. Kaitlin was nominated for Support Person of the Year for the NT and was well supported at the awards evening with a large cohort of Humpty Doo staff. We appreciate everything you do Ms Kaitlin!

Preschool will be holding their open morning on Saturday 25 November. Please come along if your child will be enrolling or commencing in 2018. Places are almost at capacity for preschool enrolment in 2018. Look out for the final fundraiser, the Christmas raffle, to be drawn at the preschool graduation assembly on 6 December.

Our Step Up program for the whole school will be held on the morning of Monday 4 December. This provides our students with an opportunity to get to know their new class and teacher for 2018, being familiar with a new space and new faces will assist our students at the commencement of the school year. It also establishes expectations and routines. Although we work hard to reduce changes to class compositions there are usually some unforeseen changes between December and January and this will be explained to students on Step Up day.

The Working Bee was a success on Friday afternoon with many families remaining behind after the school bell to chip in and keep our Lilyman Garden looking well-loved. Thank you to all who donated their time.

End of Year assessments commenced at the beginning of this term with our PAT (progressive achievement test) in Mathematics and English. The results have been extremely positive showing consistent growth right across the school from year one to year six. Data from these assessments will be used by teachers to develop targeted learning opportunities and as a way to triangulate achievement data.

Semester Two reports will be sent home in week 10 this term. Teachers will continue to be in contact with families regarding results so there are no surprises within these reports. Please contact your teacher to discuss your child’s progress and results.

Attendance has a direct impact on student achievement and our data clearly demonstrates that students with inconsistent attendance or attendance below 80% have lower school achievement results than their peers. Please support your child to come to school every day.
