The men hunted animals (large and small)and fished.The women gathered food nuts, berries and other fruits and vegetables. They depended on the natural environment for shelter.They lived in caves or shelters made of rock, branches and/or animal skins.

Hunters and Gatherers Develop Community They lived in groups or bands of about thirty.The size of the band depended on the amount of food available.The band included several families.Hunter Gatherers on the MoveHunter gatherers were nomads. They were people who moved from place to place.They moved to a new location when food became scarce or limited.

Bands returned to the same places with the changes of season.Bands migrated or moved from one place to settle in new distant lands while following animals to hunt.
