He sang about Chicago and New York, but Frank Sinatra called Palm Springs “home” for more

than 50 years. The ‘Chairman of the Board’ and his Rat Pack buddies lived, loved and partied hard here. This new

narrated driving tour led by a local step-on guide allows you to follow in Ol’ Blue Eyes’ footsteps to examine this

legendary man’s life as you are immersed in the surroundings of his Palm Springs years. The focus of this

fascinating tour is Frank, his life, his family, his loves, his times, and his legacy. As we arrive into town, we begin

with a look at Melvyn’s Restaurant at the elegant Ingleside Inn. Still frequented by celebrities, it was a favorite of

Frank’s and was the location he chose for his pre-wedding party to Barbara. Little seems to have changed since then

– not even the waiters, many of whom have worked since Frank was a regular. Although he could often be found

Today we are joined by professional step-on guide, Curt, who is a history buff with an

expertise on the evolution of Los Angeles, and is especially loved for his charismatic

personality and fun stories. The “Roaring 20s” were a time of high fashion, jazz music and economic prosperity – it

was a great decade to be alive! As a result of the extensive modernization that took place in L.A. in the 1920s, the

city went from being a fairly ordinary city with good weather, to being called “The Emerald City.” On this downtown

L.A. adventure, you’ll get a glimpse into the history and panache of this era with visits to a number of memorable

and iconic sites. Visit City Hall, which played host to the notorious courtroom trials of the 1920s and has been

featured in countless films and television shows – the views from the observation deck on the 27th floor are

breathtaking! A docent-guided tour of the Foursquare Heritage Center – the restored home of the famous Evangelist,

Aimee Semple McPherson – who made a huge impact on this area in the 1920s as a media celebrity. The home has

back in time. Visit the historic Angelus Temple which was built in 1923 under McPherson’s leadership. A driving

tour through downtown’s historic bank and theater districts that in the 1920s were considered the “Wall Street of the

We begin at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), a vast and vibrant world of gems and jewelry.

Established in 1931, the GIA is the world’s foremost authority on diamonds, colored stones, and pearls and the

high-security headquarters will feature the GIA Museum which showcases the science and beauty of gems and

Tavern & Museum. This is a replica of the original tavern in Boston, where Sam Adams, Paul Revere and other

County. First, a visit to the Camarillo Ranch House – a beautiful 14-room Victorian, Queen-Anne-style home

that was built in 1892 by Adolfo Camarillo and was recently restored to its original splendor. On a docent-

guided tour we’ll learn about the house, the original Rancho and the Camarillo White Horses that originated

from this ranch and gained world-wide notoriety. Take a stroll through the estate’s beautifully manicured

thematic gardens. Enjoy an included Santa Maria-style barbeque luncheon consisting of tri-tip steak or chicken,

grilled corn-on-the cob, ranch house beans, green salad, dessert and lemonade in the Ranch’s renovated 1905

red barn. Later, take delight in the variety of goodies available for purchase at the Somis Nut House – a

family-operated packing house, known for its candies, nuts and dried fruits that have been enjoyed by locals
