Nicholas Carrs draws on Marshall McLuhans earlier work (in the 1960’s) saying that media is not passive channels of information. Rather media supply the stuff of thought and shapes the process.
Do you agree with thees arguments?
Why? Why not? And how?
First of all, I doubt that we will even talk about digital
communication as "social media", It will be too well done by that time
so we will probably just talk about "communication" or
"conversation". But I guess that we will have great tools for managing
different kinds of conversations, like instant translation and flexible
visualisation. The interaction will be totally based on the prerequisites
of the human body and probably feel as natural as ever.
