The recent development of the unilateral fixator is using its possibilities to be combined with rod modular fixators, e.g. with Modular External Rod System offered by “OrthoTech Design Ltd.” - Bulgaria.
Thus a unique versatile system for external fixation can be built which takes advantages of both systems and allows new advanced functionalities and medical technologies to be created.
The built devices can be formed as a ring or semi-ring frame.
An example of suitable application of a such device is the treating of pilon ankle fractures in the conditions of dynamic osteotaxis.
