I-75/85 CONNECTOR VISION PROJECT July 26, 2011 Public Workshop Summary & Notes Highest Ranked Survey Images from the July 26 Workshop Table Discussion Base Map Kinder Baumgardner of SWA Group presented a series of preliminary design ideas for the Connector On Thursday evening, July 26th, Midtown Alliance, the Midtown Improvement District, Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District held a public workshop to gather input on the business districts’ effort to enhance the I-75/85 Connector. The public workshop was intended to both inform stakeholders of the goals of the project and gather ideas and feedback from participants. The first segment of the meeting included a series of presentations introducing the project and a series of preliminary design concepts. Design strategies under consideration include: urban forestry, vertical greening, colorful lighting, contemporary art, and pedestrian/bicycle trails and connections. Following the presentation, attendees participated in an image survey indicating their interest in a variety of design strategies. The top four survey images, according to workshop participants, are shown to the left. The image ranking exercise generally illustrated a preference towards landscape improvements such as trees, living walls, and other green elements. Several abstract art, lighting, plaza and trail images also ranked highly. The final segment of the meeting included small group discussions where participants were encouraged to offer additional ideas and identify locations where improvements were most needed.
