It was another action-packed eveningfor students of Rhythm World DanceStudio when their 2nd student dance
competition took place, on Sunday, April26th, 2015.Although it was a competition, meant
to give students self confidence, whenthey do participate in a major competi-tion, the participants took this eventvery seriously and came appropriatelydressed up for the occasion.In addition to the competitors, several
other students turned up to cheer theirfavourites“The categories of competition ranged
from Beginners Level to Medal NoviceLevel, according to the current class of
the students who competed,” saidShiromi Perera, the Directress ofRhythm World Dance Studio.And, as it was a friendly compe-
tition, amongst dance colleagues,it was a time of great fun andtogetherness which is generallyseen at all Rhythm World eventsand functions.Shiromi went on to say that
the Rhythm World StudentDance Competition will now bean annual event.“This will enable the stu-
dents to display their prowess,in dance, in a friendly andfamiliar atmosphere,” said
= Ice Cubes: An application of ice, on the affectedarea, is the fastest method to remove the swelling, red-ness and inflammation caused by pimples. It alsoenhances blood circulation and cleans the dirt from theaffected area and tightens the pores. Wrap pieces of icein a clean cloth and apply it on the affected area. Youneed to do this frequently, for at least a week, to obtainresults.
= Peppermint: Apply mashed peppermint leaves onthe pimple area. Leave it for an hour and then wash itoff. Do it continuously for 10 days to get results.
= Lemon Juice: Dip a cotton ball, in the lemon juice,and apply on the affected area. Better to do it at nighttime. Wash your face, with lukewarm water, early morn-ing .If your skin is not sensitive, add cinnamon powder,with the lemon juice, and apply on the affected. It givesbetter results than lemon juice alone.
= Honey: Apply honey on the pimple area. Leave itfor about an hour and wash with lukewarm water. Forbetter results apply it for one whole month.
= Toothpaste: At night, apply toothpaste, on the pim-ple area, and wash it off early morning.
= Garlic: Cut garlic cloves into two and rub the itemson your pimples. Leave it on for five to ten minutes andthen wash your face. Repeat the method many times, ona daily basis, for a couple of days.
= Papaya: Take a fresh papaya and cut it into pieces.Crush the pieces and take the juice from them. Applythis juice on the pimples. Leave it for 20 minutes beforewashing. Do it regularly and you will see results within aweek.
= Orange peel and juice are perfect remedy for pim-ples. Rub peels of orange gently on the pimples in orderto avoid infection spreading in other parts of the skin.After the initial rub, dab the area with cotton wool,dipped in orange juice. Lastly, wash the area with coldwater.
= Banana peel and banana both have the power toreduce inflammation, promote the growth of newhealthy cells, and get rid of pimples. Rub the banana peelon the affected area in a circular movement.
= Aspirin is found to be the fastest cure for pimples.Make a paste with a crushed aspirin tablet and water,and apply it on the pimples. Leave it to dry overnight.The anti-inflammatory content of aspirin reduces theswelling and clears the pimples, by morning.
It was one week of exciting crab activity, at theMount Lavinia Hotel, as the long-awaited Crabfiesta got underway at the hotel’s Seafood Cove –
from 23rd April to 1st May.The culinary experts, at the Seafood Cove, fash-
ioned a cracking menu, which delighted the cravingtaste buds of the patrons. The menu covered the Mediterranean coast with
the Mediterranean Crab prepared with Tomatoes,Onion, Garlic, Saffron with White Wine, and com-plete with Freshly Chopped Tarragon.There was also the Singaporean Black Pepper
Crab and Crab Rendang, made in the trueIndonesian style, the Sizzling Crab, cooked withhot chilli and garlic, and the mean and leanSteamed Crab.
Topping up the list was the famous Jaffna CurryCrab without which no crab fiesta is complete.Patrons also had the opportunity of trying theirluck at the Wagon Wheel, which was set up at thevenue, and a chance to win prizes iconic to theSeafood Cove.Set up in the Paradise
Beach, of the MountLavinia Hotel, therustic setting of theSeafood Cove com-plete with cadjanroof and wood-en tables andchairs, andthe lamp litatmosphere,adds aserendipitouscharm to thissignaturerestaurant.
