Chandana I t was another action-packed evening for students of Rhythm World Dance Studio when their 2nd student dance competition took place, on Sunday, April 26th, 2015. Although it was a competition, meant to give students self confidence, when they do participate in a major competi- tion, the participants took this event very seriously and came appropriately dressed up for the occasion. In addition to the competitors, several other students turned up to cheer their favourites “The categories of competition ranged from Beginners Level to Medal Novice Level, according to the current class of the students who competed,” said Shiromi Perera, the Directress of Rhythm World Dance Studio. And, as it was a friendly compe- tition, amongst dance colleagues, it was a time of great fun and togetherness which is generally seen at all Rhythm World events and functions. Shiromi went on to say that the Rhythm World Student Dance Competition will now be an annual event. “This will enable the stu- dents to display their prowess, in dance, in a friendly and familiar atmosphere,” said = Ice Cubes: An application of ice, on the affected area, is the fastest method to remove the swelling, red- ness and inflammation caused by pimples. It also enhances blood circulation and cleans the dirt from the affected area and tightens the pores. Wrap pieces of ice in a clean cloth and apply it on the affected area. You need to do this frequently, for at least a week, to obtain results. = Peppermint: Apply mashed peppermint leaves on the pimple area. Leave it for an hour and then wash it off. Do it continuously for 10 days to get results. = Lemon Juice: Dip a cotton ball, in the lemon juice, and apply on the affected area. Better to do it at night time. Wash your face, with lukewarm water, early morn- ing .If your skin is not sensitive, add cinnamon powder, with the lemon juice, and apply on the affected. It gives better results than lemon juice alone. = Honey: Apply honey on the pimple area. Leave it for about an hour and wash with lukewarm water. For better results apply it for one whole month. = Toothpaste: At night, apply toothpaste, on the pim- ple area, and wash it off early morning. = Garlic: Cut garlic cloves into two and rub the items on your pimples. Leave it on for five to ten minutes and then wash your face. Repeat the method many times, on a daily basis, for a couple of days. = Papaya: Take a fresh papaya and cut it into pieces. Crush the pieces and take the juice from them. Apply this juice on the pimples. Leave it for 20 minutes before washing. Do it regularly and you will see results within a week. = Orange peel and juice are perfect remedy for pim- ples. Rub peels of orange gently on the pimples in order to avoid infection spreading in other parts of the skin. After the initial rub, dab the area with cotton wool, dipped in orange juice. Lastly, wash the area with cold water. = Banana peel and banana both have the power to reduce inflammation, promote the growth of new healthy cells, and get rid of pimples. Rub the banana peel on the affected area in a circular movement. = Aspirin is found to be the fastest cure for pimples. Make a paste with a crushed aspirin tablet and water, and apply it on the pimples. Leave it to dry overnight. The anti-inflammatory content of aspirin reduces the swelling and clears the pimples, by morning. I t was one week of exciting crab activity, at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, as the long-awaited Crab fiesta got underway at the hotel’s Seafood Cove – from 23rd April to 1st May. The culinary experts, at the Seafood Cove, fash- ioned a cracking menu, which delighted the craving taste buds of the patrons. The menu covered the Mediterranean coast with the Mediterranean Crab prepared with Tomatoes, Onion, Garlic, Saffron with White Wine, and com- plete with Freshly Chopped Tarragon. There was also the Singaporean Black Pepper Crab and Crab Rendang, made in the true Indonesian style, the Sizzling Crab, cooked with hot chilli and garlic, and the mean and lean Steamed Crab. Topping up the list was the famous Jaffna Curry Crab without which no crab fiesta is complete. Patrons also had the opportunity of trying their luck at the Wagon Wheel, which was set up at the venue, and a chance to win prizes iconic to the Seafood Cove. Set up in the Paradise Beach, of the Mount Lavinia Hotel, the rustic setting of the Seafood Cove com- plete with cadjan roof and wood- en tables and chairs, and the lamp lit atmosphere, adds a serendipitous charm to this signature restaurant.
