We are one people in one community, dedicated to enriching Jewish life here at home, in Israel and overseas. Together, we offer every member of our extended Jewish family a place to feel connected to the Jewish community of the greater Palm Beaches, as well as a place to turn in time of need.

You have enabled us to help make a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people – children, teens, young adults, families, the elderly, Ethiopian-Israelis and Jews of the former Soviet Union – who desperately need our help. You will never meet most of them. Together we have – and will continue to:

• Offer vibrant Jewish programming • Reach out and provide vital services to our community • Help our global Jewish family • Bring comfort and hope to those who are hurting • Provide financial assistance for Jews in crisis and counseling to those in distress • Feed and care for our most vulnerable and at-risk populations • Reinforce the bonds between our community and Israel • Connect people in the greater Palm Beaches to Jewish life • Educate our children and promote lifelong Jewish learning • Offer a warm embrace to those isolated and at-risk • Help strengthen synagogues as gateway institutions of Jewish life in our community

Every gift

• Opportunities abound for our community to share in the traditions of the Jewish holidays and explore our heritage.

• 40% of the students at our local Jewish day school receive tuition assistance, making a Jewish education accessible and affordable.

• More than 39,000 Meals-On-Wheels were served.

• 40 teens traveled to Israel on Federation’s Gesher Hai (Hebrew for living bridge) program.

• The elder members of our community received services that enabled them to age-in-place and live out their days with dignity.

• More than 35,000 Jewish college students on Florida campuses are served.

• More than 100 children received funds (incentives and/or scholarships)

to attend Jewish overnight camp for Jewish identity-building experiences.

• More than 300 teens participate in Jewish Student Union clubs in area high schools.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors:

to Federation and its partners makes a difference. Every dollar goes to building the Jewish community to be the best that it can be – for all age groups.

• Approximately 370 teachers participated in Professional Development Training to improve the quality of Jewish education in our schools.

• Chaplaincy provides valuable outreach services like Shabbat and holiday celebrations to our Jewish community.

• 1,200 local Jewish children receive Jewish-content books each month through the PJ Library® program.

• The unaffiliated can become engaged through new and innovative programs at synagogues.

• The bond between Israel’s Tzahar Region, which encompasses Federation’s partner cities of Tzfat, Rosh Pina and Hatzor Haglilit, and the greater Palm Beaches grows stronger, through living bridge programming, which includes shared community experiences like the Bonim Fellows, Young Ambassadors and other peer encounters.

• More than 640 children ages 5 to 13 attended our local Jewish day camp in Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens.

• More than 350 Ethiopian-Israeli children, birth to six years, participate in the Parents and Children Together (PACT) program; another 415 from second to sixth grades are involved in PACT Plus.

• Jewish children with special needs in St. Petersburg, Russia receive medical assistance, reduced-cost medications and loans of medical equipment.

• Nearly 225 Holocaust survivors received specialized care and counseling.

• Teens are able to participate in life-transforming programs to share and study what it means to be Jewish, often resulting in lifelong friendships that span continents, and a lifelong commitment to Judaism.

Federation has honored all requests and verified the accuracy of the Honor Roll to the best of its abilities. The 2010 Honor Roll includes all donations received as of December 31, 2010. Federation has done its best to ensure that everyone is included and listed correctly, and apologizes to anyone who may have inadvertently been overlooked.

The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County Honor Roll of donors recognizes generous individual, family and private foundation contributions of a minimum of $1,000 that benefit Federation’s local and overseas programs and agencies. These contributions were made to Campaign 2010, or were provided as a designated gift benefiting a specific program locally or overseas with Federation’s partners. A 58-year-old real estate professional found himself on the receiving end of the very benefits he himself had helped support as a Federation donor. As the economy tumbled and the residential real estate market collapsed, he couldn’t afford to put food on the table or pay his mortgage. He called Federation for help and, as Jason* said, “When we were at the end of our rope, when we didn’t know if we were going to be able to keep our home, my Jewish community was there for me.” Thanks to you, Jason and his family were able to “ride out the storm” of economic challenge.

Support of adult daycare benefit Herb and Ruth*, a husband and wife married 50 years who vowed to always care for each other and not resort to a nursing home, by providing respite care for an adult caregiver, allowing the couple to remain living independently in Florida, providing a life of dignity.

Katya* a bright and inquisitive 2-year-old in the former Soviet Union can barely move the right side of her body due to congenital nerve damage. Her parents, who use one-third of their modest income for their daughter’s medicine and testing, found a child development center that specializes in Katya’s impairment. However, they could not afford to send her there at a cost of more than $1,000. Your support helped provide financial assistance and an evaluation of her needs for other welfareservices. Thanks to you, today Katya is a thriving, smiling, happy toddler.

In Israel, 10-year-old Aviva* recently lost her mother. During her mother’s illness, the Youth Futures mentor assigned to the girl was the sole pillar of support for the family struggling to cope with their impending loss. Another family of nine is also receiving similar help, thanks to the program. Their mentor has helped find subsidized daycare for the younger children, and extra services for one of the daughters who has a learning disability. Thanks to you, today Aviva and her family are closer than ever; the dynamic is different, but the bond is strong.

Sheila* was having a hard time balancing her checkbook. A “Circle of Friends”

member – a neighbor-helping-neighbor endeavor of Federation’s Jewish Community Assistance Network (JCAN) – who lived two

doors away was able to help, providing a sense of relief and a much-needed boost to

her self-esteem. Thanks to you, today Sheila is not afraid to ask for help for fear of losing

her independence.
