scheduling prevents printing certificates if completed in Self-Paced format, no state level program info

LIAISON CONCERNS:District administration’s lack of

understanding of MV Law and liaison role (NO CREDIBILITY!)

Administrators dismissing decisions and advice of district liaisons (NO RESPECT!)

Increased potential for MV disputes and even law suits (NO AWARENESS!)

STATE COORDINATOR CONCERNS:High turnover of MV liaisons = continually in

training modeState Education Agency (SEA) cannot build

capacity of program when liaisons are all beginners

Additional time spent in training and re-training liaisons takes time away from other regional grant coordinator and state coordinator duties

Plan set up in the Edify System o We earn respect by working through and

learning the intricacies of the law—shows credibility for the position

Process for Earning the Michigan

MV Liaison Credential continuedThe State Coordinator for Homeless Education is

notified of completion and attends the liaison’s District Board of Education meeting to present a framed certificate of State Credential as a MI McKinney-Vento Liaisono Presenting this at the School Board level helps to

bring awareness of the liaison position (institutionalize) in the school system and recognizes the work the individual has put into earning this level of credentialing.

o Serves as a “preferred qualification” for moving from a Local District Liaison to a MV Grant Coordinator or State Coordinator
