The Pigeon pea Front Line Demonstration (FLD) Farmers Training Programme had been organized under harnessing pulses productivity mission 2012- 13 on 14th Sept. 2012 at KVK - ••. .- campus. The cluster approach selected FLD farmers from RS. Daware addressing to fanners Gobhani village attended the programme. Mr. RS.Daware SMS Plant Protection attended the training as a expert trainer on IPM and IDM in pigeon pea. During the programme Mr. Daware presented the IPM and IDM module in pigeon pea through power point presentation. The preparation and use of5% NSKE, principle of pheromone application and its installation demonstration has also been given in the field under the guidance of chief trainer. Few farmers also express their views and share their experiences regarding adoption ofIPM in their own field with other farmers. The question and answer session had been also organize at the end of the training and Mr. R S.Daware clarify the technological aspect regarding IPM and IDM in Pigeon pea. The programme proceeding was conducted by FLD assistant Mr. Bhagwan Deshmukh and Mr. R T. Markand gave the vote of thanks.

Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering andTechnology, (CIPHET), Ludhiana is organizing "NationalFannInnovator Meet 2012" on31 October 20 12. NEWS LETTERDISSEMINATION OF WEATHER RELATED INFORMATIONAND ADVISORY SERVICES TO FARMERS STARTED

Pilot project for dissemination of agriculture advisoryservices via SMS to 50,000 farmers in 10 districts ofthe statewas launched on 3rd Sept., 2012. About 5000 farmers fromeachKVK will be benefited from SMS advisory services.

The services has been started by the National Bank forAgriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) incollaboration with the India Meterorological Department(IMD, agriment division), Pune , and 10 Krishi VigyanKendras inlO districts of Maharashtra. KVK Washim isamong selected KVKs for the said project A memorandum ofunderstanding has been signed between the NABARD andthe IMD for the proj ect.

Under the project, technical inputs including crop,weather and market advisories- shall be provided on a dailybasis through SMS services by 10 developmentcorrespondents trained by the Krishi Vigyan Kendras.

Also in the pipeline is an interactive voice responsesystem that has been proposed for illiterate farmers to receiveweather related information and advisory services in the state.

L. S. Rathore, Director General Meteorology, IMD,New Delhi, said that several studies and research work relatedto weather forecast were going on, but the importantinformation generated did not reach the farmers. "This is wetto change under the project" he said, adding that it is veryimportant to not just provide weather related advisory, butalso give information on management practices and seeds,among others.

N.Chattopandhyay, deputy director general ofagricultural meteorology, IMD, Pune said that other thansending advisories through SMS to farmers, an interactivevoice response system was being proposed to reach illiteratefarmers. "The technology would have a computer interactingwith humans through the use of voice. At present, SMS arebeing sent, but its reach becomes limited"

He also said that the feedback to the advisory serviceswill be analyzed "We will be engaging the 50000 farmersthrough 8500 farmers clubs in the state for the first time" hesaid.

Charumati Mahadevan, General Manager,NABARD, said that the project will cover 10 districtbenefiting about 50000. The three year project will create abridge among farmers, technical experts, corporate,government agencies, agriculture universaities IMD andNABARD, she said.

A.M Girbal, Deputy General Manager, NAB ARD ,Said, The focus of the project includes meteorologicaladvisory services to the farmers, bringing together exerts andgrass-root level communities, dissemination of agricultureadvisory and feedback from farmers and research anddevelopment in operational agriculture meteorology. Ifsuccessful, the project will be replicated in other places as

well.The 10 districts being covered are Washim, Yevatmal,

Amaravati, Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Hingoli, Jalna,Sindhudurg, Ahmednager and Pune.

Under NABARD Sponsored Pilot Project onaugmenting the Lead crop productivity 7 day Paraworkertraining programme had been organize during 31. 8.2012 to7.9.2012 atKVKcampus.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. R.S.DawareSMS Plant Protection KVK Karda. In inaugural speech Mr.Daware gave the emphasis on sustainable low costtechnological modules developed by Dr.PDKV, Akola formajor lead crop i.e. soy bean, pigeon pea, Green gram ,Bengal gram & Wheat. In his further address Mr. Dawareurged the trainee to work as a brand ambassador ofAgriculture Technology Transfer in respective villages as akey person for technology dissemination.

The training programme schedule of7 days covers theaspect of IPM FFS, Seed production, drip and sprinklerirrigation, farm machinery, crop diversification, valueaddition, Fisheries aspect, banking credit flow etc withpractical exposure under the guidance of respective expert.Mr. P.L.Deokar, P.P.Shelke, R.L.Kale and expert fromexternal sources provide the expert guidance to the traineeduring whole training programme.

The valedictory session of the training was organizedin Chief presence of Mr. P.L.Deokar SMS Horticulture KVKKarda. Mr. Deokar urged the trainee to work with dedicationfor successful achievement of project objective. The wholeprogramme was planned and implemented under theguidance of Mr. S.K.Deshmukh Programme Coordinatorand Project Head KVK Karda.

Mr. Nitnaware Project Agronomist and Mr.R.T.Markand CDC Secretary Coordinated the training andconducted training proceeding and offer the vote of thankrespectively.

On the eve of Teacher's day 5 Sept. 2012 KrishiKirtankar Melawa was organized at Hanuman Mandir invillage Karda. The programme was jointly organized byDr.P.D.K.V Akola, KVK Karda and Swaranant RadioStation, to facilitate need based and timely transmission oflow cost crop production technologies among farmers.

Up Sarpanch of village Karda Sau. Muktabai A.Deshmukh Chaired the programme while Kirtankar Shri.Prabhu Maharaj was Chief Guest ofthe function. In inauguraladdress KVK scientist Shri. P.P.Shelke, Shri.R.L.Kale,Dr.D.L.Ramteke and Mrs.S.N.Watane guided farmers abouton going KVK activities and highlighted importance ofdevelopment of alternate extension model for popularizationof agricultural technologies among dry land farmers.

Shri. Amol Deshmukh Incharge Swaranant RadioStation expressed views in timely transmission oftechnologies through krishi kirtan, pravachan, bharud andbhajan in local language.

During the programme sampradayik bhajan mandalsang Sant Tukaram abbhang while krishi kirtankar Shri.Prabhu Maharaj Gobhanikar through krishigeet expressedimportance of soil testing, seed germination test, use of neemseed kernel extract, seed production and low cost cropproduction technology developed by Dr.PDKV,Akola.

At the end Mahila bhajani mandaI explained role ofSHGs in women empowerment and expressed satisfaction forefforts made by KVK in transmission oftechnologies throughbhajan andkirtans.

District Collector Sh.R.G.Kulkarni in his speechfocused on need soil analysis and appealed District Official,stake holders and farmers to take the benefit of the mobilesoil testing lab. Further he asked KVK to made publicity ofthe service, publish schedule of village wise awareness andsoil testing campaign. On this occasion soil sample analysisreport tested in mobile soil testing lab were distributed thefarmers.

Programme Coordinator Shri. S. K.Deshmukh duringthe programme conveyed that KVK will take help of farmersclub volunteer, Krishi Mitra under ATMA and SHGs foreffective implementation ofthe programme.

Fisheries department of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kardahas organized On Farm Testing (Assessment) programme onpoly culture for year 2012-13. The four species were selectedfor the assessment programme i.e. Catla, Cyprinus,Pungasicus sutchi & Pampus chinensis (Rup chanda). Fishfarmers of Andhra Pradesh region has adopted the polyculture system to produce 20 ton/ha/year fish production ofcatla, rohu, Pungasicus sutchi & Rup chanda. But in Washimdistrict fish farmers are using only Indian Major Carps i.e.Catla, Rohu & mrigal along with Cyprinus carpio for culture.The Pungasicus sutchi & Rup chanda are new species for thefish farmers in Washim District. Dr. Ravindra Kale, SubjectMatter Specialist (fisheries) has implemented the OFTprogramme on farmers field as well as KVK campus. He willassess the growth performance & response for artificialfeeding and suitability ofthese new two species for our area.The Four Species were selected for the assessment programme are as follows:
