PRESENT SCENARIO OF INDIAN TOURISM
• Expected contribution to the country’s GDP will grow at the rate of 7.8% yearly in the period 2013–2023 (IBEF)
• Attracted around US$ 7,441 million of FDI (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion)
• Approved US$ 2.8 billion under the 12th Five-Year Plan for the development of tourism infrastructure projects, including rural tourism and human resource development projects (MoT, GoI)

• Contributes 8.6 % to GDP (WTTC,2010)
• GDP growth for Tourism and Travel sector is 6.7% (WTTC,2010)
• Contributes 10.0% to total employment (2010)
• FTAs was 5.58 million in 2010 compared to 5.11 million in 2009 (MoT)
• Foreign exchange earnings (FEE) from tourism increased by 24.6% in 2010 compared to 2009 (MoT)

TOURISM GALORE
• The demand for travel and tourism in India is expected to grow by 8.2% between 2010 & 2019 and will place India at the third position in the world.
• Contribution of travel and tourism to GDP is expected to increase from USD 67.3 billion in 2009 to USD 187.3 billion in 2019.
• India’s travel and tourism sector is expected to be the second largest employer in the world employing 40,037, 000 by 2019.

OPPORTUNITIES UNLIMITED
• Capital investment in India’s travel and Tourism sector is expected to grow at 8.8% between 2010 and 2019.
• India’s travel and tourism sector will get an estimated investment worth USD 94.5 billion by 2019.
• India is projected to become the fifth fastest growing business travel destination between 2010 and 2019 with an estimated real growth rate of 7.6 %.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• A bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 pattern) in any discipline of a University / Institute or equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks for UR / OBC or 45% marks for SC / ST / PH.
• Applicants must appear in any of the following Management Entrance Tests approved by AICTE and submit a valid score (between May 1, 2014 to May 1, 2015):

SCHOLARSHIP AND FREESHIP
• Students of IITTM can avail of government scholarships offered by various agencies to students of different categories.
• On an average, approximately 150 students are availing benefits from these scholarships in every academic session.
• Besides these scholarships, IITTM offers Freeship to one male and one female student from each course for the semester, that they score the highest grade (Rules of the institution applicable).
• The amount of the Freeship will be awarded to the students of each PGDM program on the annual basis, probably on IITTM’s Foundation Day celebrated annually on 18th January.
