In company with the handsomeeditor of this paper we tookaSundayowethe railroad route and walkedover the long trestle and if thespirit of Benj Franklin the idolof all printers will forgive uswe will never walk itagain Ev-
ery minute seemed an age andexpecting every second to see atrain hove in sight our 2 Panamal hat raised away up on ourpreparedthe waters of Richland some 80feet below but we landedsafelyat Moss Rock and were warmly greeted by Capt Geo Taylorthe affable foreman of the MossRock mines who regaled us wthu drink uf cold water and a goodcigar we started on our trip intothe mine Lighting his minerslamp the Captain saysuComeon boys and in we went Aftorgoing in about one hundredfeet we stopped to examine thework of those who had been before us The mine is laidoft intorooms and are numbered oneman to a room The mine hassplendid ventilation and thecomlort and safety of his men isCapt Taylors special pride anddelight A minature railroad ex-
tends the entire distance throughthe mine from the mouth to thetail we reckon on the otherside of the mountain a distance-of nearly a thousand feet Ponycars hauled by Tobe as smart-s mule as ever Mnd dared to beis loaded and hauled out to thetipple where it is loadedandshipped to the four ways of theearth as Moss Rock coal rankswith the best coal known to themarket and being free from sul-
phur it finds a ready sale and iscontiually being called for
