FUNNY PEOPLE: CAROL BURNETTWednesday, September 14 - 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

C arol Burnett was the queen of TV comedy, the first woman to host her

own major variety show. The side-splitting clips of her hilarious show

will leave you smiling for days. So will the triumphant story of her rise to

stardom despite a disordered and difficult childhood. She is one of the

kindest people in show business. When you learn about what she had

to overcome, your admiration for her will grow. Explore the life of Carol

Burnett with Barry Bradford

FUNNY PEOPLE: DICK VAN DYKEWednesday, September 21 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

T he Dick Van Dyke Show is

remembered as one of the wittiest

situation comedies. What is less well remembered

is that it was a deceptive innovator that contrasts sharply with

the situation comedies of the 1950s. It ushers in a new era and was the

first sitcom to be set in suburbia, feature both the world of work AND

a fully developed home life and offer rich and consistent backstories for

all the characters. A modern housewife featured a professional woman

in the workplace. This unique presentation will highlight one of the most

iconic programs and early TV history.

BLAME IT ON COLUMBUSMonday, October 10 - 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

I magine Italian food without tomato sauce, the Irish without the

potato famine, or the spicy food of India without the chili pepper.

After the voyages of Columbus, plants, animals, technology, human

populations and ideas were exchanged between the Old World and

the New World. Rubber, silver and tobacco found their way to Europe.

Sweet potatoes saved China from famine. Chocolate became a favorite

beverage in Europe, and the taste for sweet things led to the sugar

plantations and slavery in the New World. Join Sara Drower and see

the impact of the voyages of Columbus echoed around the world.

FAMOUS COUPLES: BURNS AND ALLENWednesday, October 19 - 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

G racie was one of the most underrated

comediennes of all time! Her comic timing

and delivery are among the best of all time. In

this warm and affectionate multimedia biography,

the life and career of the hilarious George and

Grace gloriously spring to life. Did you know

Grace danced well enough to do duets with

Eleanor Powell and Fred Astaire? That she played

a detective in a comic murder mystery written just

for her? Or that when she ran for President she

received over 40,000 votes? This is a fun and

informative presentation you won't want to miss.

FAMOUS COUPLES: TRACY & HEPBURNWednesday, October 26 - 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

S pencer Tracy was one of the greatest movie actors. His career

is highlighted with great performance after great performance..

Katharine Hepburn like Spencer Tracy, had a long and distinguished

career on Broadway and in film as one of the top stars in America

before they met. Her screwball comedies her comic range. Her classic

films demonstrated that she was also dramatic actress of the first order.

Together they were dynamite. On-screen they engaged in a never ending

battle of the sexes. Offscreen they carried on a long extramarital affair.

Barry Bradford will look at their lives and careers, individually and

together.
