Looking forward to Year 2
In September when you return to school you will
be in Giraffe Class. Your teacher will be Miss
Bouch - she is so excited to meet you all! This
week you can write her a postcard to share 3
important things about you. If you upload it to Seesaw I will share
it with Miss Bouch. Feel free to drop it off to the school office if
you would prefer.
The Great Big Quiz of the Year!
On Wednesday morning I will be uploading the “Great Big
Quiz of Year 1” to Seesaw. Join in during the day and I
will post the answers up in the afternoon!
I’ve uploaded our knowledge organisers to help you recap
our learning (but remember this quiz is just for fun!)
Topics
PSHE: Transition and changes
There are many changes happening currently. We are able to see
more people and do things we haven’t been able to do for a while. You are at the end of your Year 1 year and about to start the
summer holidays. You are also looking forward to Year 2. Just like the colour monster last
week you might feel lots of different feelings. Remember that all of your feelings are ok.
Take some time this week to look back, to focus on how you feel now and to look
forward. I’ve create a thinking sheet to help
you. I am so proud of you all!
Giraffe Facts
Can you find out some interesting facts about giraffes?
How will you present your learning? National Geographic
kids is a great place to start: https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/discover/

Have a look on SeeSaw for a video
from me to teach you how to draw a
giraffe. I’ve also added the video we
used to draw Zebras at the start of
the year.

Handwriting: Print
Handwriting: Can you practise these letter joins? This week the focus is: cursive top joins.
Follow this link for videos to support your letter formation. Remember when you are joining, you form each letter in the
same way as when print the letters.
Phonics
This week we are looking at a sound that is very common but
can be quite hard to hear! We know it already as the er digraph
in better letter. It is known as a schwa. It happens when we
don't stress all of the syllables in a word. It can sound a bit like
/uh/. It will help to read or listen to the poem aloud.
E.g. dinosaur garden away
