Arst’sStatement

Mybodyofartworkisarepresentaonofmyselfinthroughdifferentspectrums.Havingchosenthebigideaof"Identy",Isetouttolearnmoreaboutmyself,andtheworldIliveinthroughmyInternaonalBaccalaureateVisualArtsprogramattheAmericanInternaonalSchoolofKingston.

ThroughoutmylifeIhavebeenfacedwithnumerousobstacles,experiencesandcircumstancesthathaveallcontributedtomyoutlookonlifeandwhoIamtoday.Thesefactorsallincludemysurroundings,mycountry,Jamaica,thepeoplewhoIhavegrownupwith,whoIaspiretobe,aswellascomingofageproblemsIhavefacedasayoungman.Ihaveusedmyartandphotographytochannelthoseoutlooks-somebeingposive,somebeingnegave.

Beforestarngtheprogram,IfocusedsolelyonFashionPhotography.However,Ihavenowdevelopedintocreangworksofphotographythatarebasedonconceptualideasandaresllrepresentedthroughmyvisualstyle.Throughoutmytwoyears,AnnieLeibovitzandAlexStoddardhaveinfluencedmyworks,specificallyinphotography.

Mystyleofphotographyhascertainlyinfluencedmystyleofpainng,drawing,andmixedmedia,whichwerecompletelynewconceptstomeuponenteringthisprogram.Ienjoyworkinginaverymodern,yetrealiscstylethroughthesemediums.Myinspiraonsintheseothermediashave

developedfromcontemporaryarstssuchasAndyWarholandAnneBagby.

Beingexposedtoart,notonlythroughtheInternet,butthroughbooks,interviews,andexhibionshavegivenmetheappreciaonIneedtobepassionateaboutmyartwork-Forexample,theBarringtonWatsonexhibion,whichgavemeinspiraonformyseriesofportraitsbasedonJamaicanhistory.

Thoughitmayfeelliketheend,myjourneyhasonlyjustbegun.
