Course Name/Grade Overview

Course DescriptionThis course is a systematic, critical inquiry into profound, fascinating and challenging questions about human nature. The course addresses two primary questions in philosophy. First, what is the nature of humankind? And second, once the first question is answered, given that nature, how best shall humankind conduct itself? Studying both classic and modern attempts to answer these questions, across a range of cultures, students will explore and formulate answers. Through reading, writing, and discussion, the class will learn the formal discipline of creating a valid philosophical argument, and use those skills to pursue their own answers to the great questions of philosophy. This course prepares students to take the IB Philosophy exam.

This course is a systematic, critical inquiry into profound, fascinating and challenging questions about human nature.
