Session 1International-mindedness
Session 2IB Learner Profile
1B- IB PYP- Course titlePersonal Reflections;AIM -To measure BBI’s thinking with ‘official’ IB ethos and systemsOUTCOMES-2009 was a very worthwhile year in terms of preparation -Slow and steady is the best approach-Fully accredited IB schools and teachers are very close to the CURRENT IB model-Our major hurdle is the adoption of IB systems and vocabulary/ terminology-BBI CURRENTLY bears a very strong resemblance to the IB schools used as examples in the training- the ‘shift’ is not going to be as huge as we think
ALSO;-Many Australian teachers do not have a ‘work’ laptop-The Australian education system is fragmented and has little unity across the states-Teachers ‘newly’ employed in fully authorised IB schools generally have little or no preparation or training for IB-Inquiry (as an approach to teaching and learning) can be simple and short-Not everything can be taught through the use of inquiry and the approach shouldn’t be ‘forced’-The NZC (as with any other written curriculum) is an integral part of the IB PYP -We are ready for our preliminary visit in March 2010
