Why use broadcast tools?Results from research conducted on how these tools were used at

IBM:

Persistent Chat Room Features Provide dedicated chat rooms that persist transcript text over long periods

of time.

Sametime Advanced System Components Prerequisite: Sametime Standard (messaging & meetings) server

Messaging (community) service provides all presence/chat. Meetings service for InstantShare.

WebSphere Application Server Chat sessions in ST Advanced are supported via AJAX/RTC4Web, and not

Sametime VP Places. Hosts all the web UI for browser access & much of desktop client access.

DB2 “Persistent” chats require a datastore – DB2 entitlement is included. Full-text search provided by DB2 text Extender.

WebSphere MQ/MQ Broker Provides both management functions and high-performance engine for publish/

subscribe messaging (eg: broadcast tools, notifications)

Same OS platforms as Sametime Standard (excl. iSeries in 8.0)
