We have been here before… déjà vu

In 2005 we were talking about:

SO WHERE ARE WE NOW…

In particular in the USA & Europe



• 66% said they were more optimistic about the Meetings Industry than 12 months ago

• 73% said they had been attracting new sources of business in the last 6 months

• When asked if they thought the market difficulties recently experienced by the Meetings Industry are now over - the response was split three ways ….. yes - no - do not know

• The US debt limit stalemate and the ensuing Stock market volatility has created great uncertainty about future business

• Rising airfares are having a negative impact on long distance travel

• Growth in domestic events

• Economic uncertainty was the key factor mentioned as influencing the Meetings industry

• Business travel will complete a comeback year in 2011 – but faces a tough climb in turbulent 2012

• 2012 forecast 4.3% growth in business travel spend ($260.9 billion)

• Expected growth in spend for 2012 will be spurred by price increases in travel goods and services

• International travel remains a bright spot

• Slow group travel spend
