Iceworld Olympic Ice Rinks- Risk Assessment and Code of Conduct OBLIGATIONS - Ice skating can be dangerous, with risk of injury. - All persons at the rink, including members of the public, have an obligation to ensure health and safety of themselves and others. The evaluation of all risk, both prior to entry and when utilizing the rink facilities, will assist in discharging this obligation. - Consideration should be given to the state of the ice surface, which may vary with the changes of the atmospheric conditions. Consideration should be given to this prior to the commencement of ice skating. - Skaters always skate at their own risk. ASSUMPTION OF RISK - By engaging in ice skating; skaters and spectators are deemed to have knowledge of the risks of ice skating which include but are not limited to the following: Injuries that result from collisions or contact with other skaters or other individuals who are on the skating surface. Injuries that result from falls. Injuries that involve objects that are properly within the intended path of travel of the skater. - Skaters and spectators are responsible for the identification of risks to which they may be exposed. CODE OF CONDUCT Skaters and Spectators understand and agree to the following: - Maintain reasonable control of his/her speed and course. - Read and abide by all posted signs and warnings and co-operate with the rink staff. - Be aware of your surroundings watching for other skaters, objects or conditions on the surface of the rink. - Accept responsibility for knowing the range of his/her ability while on skates and skate within those limits. - Do not skate while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other controlled substances. - Leave the ice surface when resurfacing maintenance is taking place. - Do not take food and drinks onto the rink surface or surrounding barrier or railing. - Do not act in a manner that may cause or contribute to injury of yourself or any other persons. - Refrain from throwing or leaving objects on the rink surface. - Refrain from instigating or becoming involved in any type of altercations with other skaters or spectators do not engage in abusive, abrasive or disorderly conduct.
