21st Century PEI Workshop – 06 May 2017 §  Premise

§  A collaboration between all 35 PEIs has been proposed §  CEOs from these PEIs identified potential benefits from working together §  Young Members from every PEI were invited to help prioritise and voice

their opinions on the most beneficial opportunities, and key focus areas

§  On the day §  About 65 young members attended §  The IET facilitated 4 break-out groups where we prioritised the initiatives

proposed by the CEOs – several novel ideas were proposed as well §  These were presented back to the CEOs of the PEIs, and discussed. §  Networking with other members demonstrated that groups, even in

IChemE, could work better together for sharing best practices etc.

21st Century PEI Workshop – 06 May 2017 §  Result

§  Highest priority items included: §  Shared memberships/access for members of one PEI to attend events of all PEIs. §  Shared coordination of outreach initiatives §  Soft skills learning, as these are relevant to all engineering disciplines §  Sharing of calendars and repositories for e.g. Events, scholarships, bursary opportunities

§  Lowest priority items §  Common PEI Awards was deemed least useful

§  Looking ahead §  IET will feedback to attendees (and we will cascade to regional groups) §  Further opportunities are likely to become available to progress items

above §  Strong call to action from young members to ensure CEOs / PEIs actually

show some progress on items in the short-medium term
