    Dear Local Residents, Parents & Staff,

    Update on the landmark redevelopment of The Kings CE School, Kidsgrove.

    The new 3 storey school building with state of the art facilities will greatly enhance the educational

    opportunities of the young people of Kidsgrove and surrounding areas.

    Key features include:

    Modern hall with retractable theatre

    style seating;

    Open plan learning resource centre

    overlooking spacious dining facilities;

    Specialist teaching rooms for all

    subjects including 6 new science labs;

    Purpose built vocational facilities including:

    Modern bistro and training kitchen, hair and beauty salon, construction yard, media studio;

    New and improved playing fields on site and hard play area;

    Outstanding ICT facilities : Full WiFI/wireless and specialist ICT rooms;

    Areas open for Community Use including new sports hall, ICT rich rooms, dance studio;

    Dedicated 6th form facilities including social areas, space for independent learning and

    seminar rooms;

    Extensive new car park facilities and drop off loop for parents and buses for added safety;

    Disabled access to all areas, including new ramps across the site.

    The redevelopment will provide students with a prestigious school fit for the 21st Century.

    This newsletter is the first of a number of regular updates on the project. Please turn over for

    further information on the start of works and how Interserve Construction is working hard to have

    a positive impact on the local community throughout the scheme.

  • The project received planning

    permission in December 2014

    and Interserve will be commencing

    enabling works immediately. The

    existing top / upper school will

    be demolished first to enable

    the new building to be

    constructed and opened in

    2016.

    We are working closely with

    both the School and Kidsgrove

    Sports Centre throughout the

    project to avoid disruption. Fencing

    will be erected around the site and

    pedestrian routes will be maintained

    through the school site and to the Leisure Centre. Deliveries will be arranged outside of peak drop

    off times and be controlled by a banksman / gateman. As with all construction works there will be a

    higher volume of large vehicles than you will be used to, but this will be carefully managed. Apologies

    in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

    We are committed to ensuring that we have a positive effect on the local community so if you have

    any queries please do not hesitate to call me or email the details below.

    The project will be registered with Considerate Constructors and we will be undertaking a range of

    work experience, apprentices and charity work throughout. If you have any ideas or requests please

    get in touch. Thank you & please look out for regular updates throughout the project,

    Matt Lakin, Interserve Construction Project Manager.
