13th International Conference on Mechatronics Technology
ICMT 2009Conference Program
Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, Philippines
Synergy and Breakthrough inMechatronics Technology
20 - 23 October 2009
Background
The technical term, Mechatronics, was coined by Mr. Tetsuro Mori, CEO/Chairman of Seibu Electric and Machinery Co.,Ltd., in 1969 when he worked for Yaskawa Electric Corporation in Kitakyushu. The purpose was to promote new technology to produce machine tools by integrating machines and electronics. “Mechatronics” is therefore fundamentally a means to open up a brighter future through innovation in technology.
Scientific conferences have always played an important role in facilitating exchange of information among researchers in related fields. In particular, the face-to-face contact in conferences allows for the development of vigrous discussions that pave the way for future collaboration and further progress. This year, we bring together researchers working on advanced mechatronics devices, mechatronics sensing, actuators and controls, MEMS/NEMS, production systems, bioengineering, human resource development, and information and networking for the 13th ICMT in Cebu City in the Southern Philippines. The event features over sixty papers by researchers from different countries. We, the organizers, welcome the conference participants to our country, and wish you an enjoyable and productive conference.
The ICMT is an annual international mechatronics and technology conference that has been successfully held for 12 years. It offers a forum to discuss state-of-the-art technologies and emerging application trends, and provides great opportunities for professional interactions and networking in a friendly and hospitable setting. The first ICMT was convened in Santa Clara, USA in 1996 and the most recent conference was held in Ontario, Canada in 2008.
The objective of ICMT is to facilitate close dialogues among experts on issues relating to research and technological development in mechatronics. This conference aims to promote strong interactions between the academy and the industry in all the aspects of mechatronics technology, including human resource development and education.
