In late 1981...Joyce Benson, a top professional golfer on the LPGA tour asked her husband RC if his company, Aloe Labs, could create a sunscreen for her and the other play-ers on the tour. RC owned an aloe farm and manufacturing facility in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas which farmed aloe vera plants and then processed and manufactured moisturizers, juices and gels. Joyce loved the non greasy feel of the aloe based moisturizers they currently made and wondered if they could duplicate that feel in a sunscreen for her to use while playing and practicing.

The chemists went to work and developed a sunscreen formula using a generous base of pure aloe vera gel, sun-screens and sunblocks and waterproofing agents. They formulated an SPF 20 lotion sunscreen and an SPF 15 lip balm. Joyce and several other tour players tested the two products on the golf course and were amazed by the re-sults. “The sunscreen worked better than anything I have ever used. I never got sunburned and it wasn’t greasy on my hands or face. It feels like I don’t have anything on my skin!”

The outstanding performance of the sunscreen forced RC into action. “We had a formula that was better than any oth-er sunscreen we had ever used. It wasn’t greasy, didn’t run in your eyes, worked better preventing sunburn, and you couldn’t even tell it was on. The golfers on the LPGA loved it. They kept asking for more and more so we decided to start Aloe Up Suncare Products.”

Most people know a little bit about Aloe Vera Gel but not the whole story. We know it’s good for you, natural and helps with burns. How many times have you been at the beach and got a bad sunburn...then, someone finds an aloe vera leaf, breaks it open and rubs the gel on your burn. Feels better, right?

There is a lot more to the science of Aloe and why it works. Aloe Vera Gel, when applied to your skin or ingested will stim-ulate your immune system into action. This helps your body naturally regenerate skin cells and is why aloe is a great mois-turizer and burn relief product. Aloe also reduces swelling and stops itching. What most people don’t know is that Aloe is the same PH as your skin and is a great penetrator. With Aloe Up Suncare, we use a base of Aloe to carry the sunscreen down into your pores so it doesn’t sit on top of your skin and feel greasy or wash off easily.

Over the last 27 years, I have been asked the same question over and over. “Why does Aloe Up work so much better than the other brands?” My answer is always the same-“It’s the Aloe Vera Gel.” We grow our own aloe on 600 acres in Harlingen, Texas. The strain we grow is the Aloe Barbadensis Lenny Miller which is the best type for cosmetic and food grade uses. Most sunscreens and moisturizers are based with water or mineral oil and a manufacturer may put a drop or two of Aloe Vera in there for marketing

purposes. A drop or two won’t do the trick. If you don’t put in at least 20% by volume of pure aloe vera gel, you will not get the true benefits of Aloe Vera Gel. Aloe Up starts with the most effective aloe and uses at least 35% to 96.9% in each product we produce. That is why we control the growing of our most important ingredient…Aloe Vera.

BE Brighter than the SunThe FDA regulates sunscreens just like any over the counter drug, which means that all those words on the label actually mean something. Here’s what you need to know to protect yourself: SPF (Sun Protection Factor): The higher the SPF, the more protection from UVB rays, which are the ones that burn your skin. But what most people don’t know is that UVB protection doesn’t increase proportionately as SPF goes up, and once you get above 30 there’s practically no difference. The biggest leap comes between SPF 15 – which blocks 93 percent of UVB rays – and SPF 30, which blocks 97 percent. Apply an SPF of at least 30 half an hour before exposure and reapply every 90 minutes. Broad Spectrum: A general term signifying that the sunscreen lotion guards against both UVA rays (responsible for the signs of aging) and UVB rays (responsible for sunburn). Our Pro and White line products offer broad spectrum protection. Water Resistance: Indicates that it will stay on your skin longer even if you go swimming. No sunscreen is entirely wa-terproof, however, so you’ll still need to reapply after getting out of the water. All Aloe Up sunscreens are water resistant for 80 minutes which is the maximum level the FDA allows on sunscreen products. Expiration Date: Not only can your sunscreen lose its efficacy, but some can start breeding bacteria. Most SPFs have a two-year shelf life from the date of manufacture. Buy a bottle every summer. Aloe Up products have an expiration date stated on products. We have removed all parabens (preservatives) from our sunscreen products. Active Ingredients: There are 17 FDA-recognized ingredients that offer sun protection, but the most effective ones are absorbers like Parsol 1789 (avobenzone) and Ecamsule (mexoryl), which soak up rays from the sun. Oxybenzone: Avoid this common broad-spectrum chemical, which is in many commercial sunscreens. Despite being ap-proved by the FDA, it can irritate skin, and some research has linked it to increased cancer risk. We have eliminated oxybenzone from almost all of our products.

PMS Color Matching: There is no charge for PMS Color Matching. Exact PMS colors are not guaranteed. Purchase order and electronic artwork provided MUST indicate PMS colors. We will make every effort to come as close as possible to the desired PMS color.
