Ideate Sign-in and Browser Configuration

You may access the IRB application via: http://irbideate.umc.edu

The site has been tested in Firefox 5+ and IE 9+. For best performance, we recommend Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/).

Logging In:

There are two options for logging in:

1) Single Sign On (SSO): if you have configured your browser to work with SSO, it will automatically log you in when you visit the site (see setup instructions below).

2) Using your Windows Credentials: if you have not configured your browser for SSO, you will be prompted for a login and password, please enter them as below:

Firefox Configuration:

Enabling Single Sign On

1. Type about:config in the address bar and hit enter.

2. Click on “I’ll be Careful” if prompted

3. Type network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris in the Filter box. 4. Double click on the item to display the value dialog box.

5. Type http://irbideate.umc.edu into the text box provided. 6. Click OK. 7. Restart the browser.

Changing the Cache Setting:

For PC Users:

1. Click on Tools in the menu bar. 2. Click Options. 3. Click on Privacy. 4. Check Clear history when Firefox closes checkbox. 5. Click the Settings button. 6. Click the Cache checkbox. 7. Click OK.

For Mac Users:

1. Click on Firefox in the Menu Bar. 2. Click on Preferences. 3. Click on the Privacy tab. 4. Set Firefox will to Use custom settings for history. 5. Deselect the Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session checkbox. 6. Check Clear history when Firefox closes checkbox. 7. Click the Settings button. 8. Click the Cache checkbox. 9. Click OK.

Internet Explorer Configuration

Enabling Single Sign On:

Ensure that Integrated Windows Authentication is enabled.

Internet Explorer users:

1. Click the Tools icon located in the upper right hand corner of the browser to begin.

IE 8 Users: IE 9 Users:

2. Choose the Tools, Internet Options menu.

3. Click the Advanced tab. 4. Scroll down to Security 5. Check Enable Integrated Windows Authentication. 6. Restart the browser.

Setup the http://irbideate.umc.edu website within the Trusted Sites Zone.

1. Choose the Tools, Internet Options menu.

2. Click on the Security Tab. 3. Click the Local Intranet icon. 4. Click the Sites button. 5. Type http://irbideate.umc.edu website to the list. 6. Click the Add button. 7. Restart the browser.

Changing the Cache Setting:

8. Click on Tools in the menu bar.

9. Click Internet Options.

10. Check the Delete browsing history on exit check box.

11. Click OK.
