The voltage rating is an absolute condition of use as stated in Table 7 of EN 50021: 1999. The eurrent rating isnot an absolute figure but [s the recommended value when used in a general purpose junction box ormarshalling box with cables having the following ratings:

The Type SAK R Range of RaU Mounted TestjDisconnect Terminals comprlse a single pole feed-throughterminal assembly, wlth disconnection link that is mounted Inta a moulded polyamide PA66 or melamlneinsulatlon housing. Each terminal assembly conslsts of a tin-plated, copper/zinc, split, current bar, which formsa knife blade contact. This is fttted wlth a zinc-plated steel, sliding yoke ancl saew at each end. When thescrew is tightened, the yoke is compressed against the current bar ancl serrations incorporated in the surfaceprevent slIppage of the concluctor.

The disconnection link consists of a polyamide PA66 insulated, hinged lever, which is fttted with a tin-plated,ropper/tin, leaf spring contact. The disconnection link is operated by an upward movement of the hingedcontact lever; this breaks the connection between the two, knlfe contacts.

A polyamide PA66 insulated rover is fitted in the moulding to hold and shield the main knife terminals.

Self--defonnation is incorporated in the design when the screws are tightened down, this is used to provide anautomatie ancl progressive anti-rotation/anti-vibration locking effect.

On both the 32 mm (SAK R) & 15 mm (SAK R 15) rall versions, a f1at section, stainless steel spring is kx:ated ina recess at the foot of the tenninal housing, which allows it to be dipped onto a TS32 or TS15 assembly railrespectively. A natural spring effect is designed inta the plastic moulding of the 35 mm (SAK R 35) rail versionto al10w it to be dipped onta a TS35 assembly rall.

Higher O.Irrents may be permitted subject to individual examination of each specific application.

The marking is either moulded inta the body of the tenninal or "tampe" printed onto R.

All the terminals may be used in assoclation with Type QB 2, QB 3 or QB4 (twa way, three way or tour wayrespectively) cross-connectors and/or partitions, in which case, the voltage and current ratings are unchanged.In addition, all the terminals may be usecl in assoclatlon with AP end plates. The terminal assembly is to beclamped In place, at both ends, using either a WeidmulIer, Type EK earth terminal, cr associated Type EW (15,15/2 or 35), EWK (1 or 2), WEW (35/1 or 35/2) end bracket respectively.

Special points for notlng

1 The end terminal shall be covered with the associated Type AP end plate ancl the terminal assemblyc1amped in place at both encls, using either a Weidmuller, Type EK earth terminal or associated endbrackets lypes EW (15, 15/2 or 35), EWK (I or 2) and WEW (35/1 or 35/2) respectively.

Where wire siZes that are smaller than 0.5 mmz are used, a oimped lug or ferrule wlth a minimum sizeof 0.5 mm2 shall be fltted to the wire.

Except where shown in a certifieate as belng internal wiring of apparatus, not more than one single crmultiple strand lead shall be connected into either side of any termInal, unless multiple conductors havebeen joined in a suitable manner, e.g. two conductors into a single insulated crimped boot lace ferrule.

Any wires that are connected to the tenninals shall be insulated for the appropliate voltage and thisinsulatiOn shall extend to within Imm of the metal of the terminal throat.

All terminal screws, used or unused, shal1 be tightened down.

The terminals shall be installed on the relevant mounting rai!:

The minimum creepage and dearance distances between the installecl tenninals and adjacent exposedfaces of equipment, enclosure walls and covers shall be 5 mm and 4 mm respectively.

The terminals shall never be exposecl to temperatures that are outside of the following range:

In addition, they shall only be installed and wired with cable in a temperature range of -lOOC to +SO°c.

When these terminals are used in an atmosphere that contains combustible dust, they shatl be installedinside an enclosure that has been suitably certified for use in this environment by a notified body.

10 The tightening torque applied to the terminal screws shall be between 0.5 Nm and 1 Nm.

11 The supply to the Type SAK R Range cf Rail Mounted Test/Disconnect Terminals shall be switched offwhen the disconnectJconnect facility is used i.e. durtng upward or downward movement of thedisconnecbon lever assembly.

12 Where the terminals are subjected to excessive vibration and vertically mounted, they shall be mountedwith the disconnectlon lever hinged at the bottam.

13 All of the Type QB cross-conneetors shall be Jimited to the same current rating as the related terminaland shall not be used with currents in excess of this value.

14 Where the prong of a Type QB cross-connector is used In a tenninal way, a further single conductor of1mm1 minimum aoss-sectional area may be connected to the same terminal way on top of the prong.

15 The Type QB cross-oonnector shall be fitted with the angled insulation on the cro5s-a>nnecting anninclined upwards towards the top of the terminal block.

16 All Type QB cross-connectors shall be isolated from adjacent terminals and other Type QB cross-connectors using AP end plates.
