EQUIPMENT:Equipment and systems covered by this certificate are as follows:
The product is a range of increased safety battery boxes. The maximum size box can be populated with 36 cells with capacities up to 1800 Ah or 2500 Ah. The ventilation slots of the battery box can be open or fitted with dust filters, when fitted with the filters the maximum cell capacity is limited to 1800 Ah.The option to have 12 Cells of the type Sonnenchien/Hoppecke 16 OPzV 2300 with dust filters fitted is also permitted. The permitted cell types are lead-acid or nickel-cadmium that the construction of which complies with the relevant IEC constructional standard for the cell type. The largest size of box has the option for a removable front panel to facilitate the fitting and the cells. The option to fit the battery box with suitably certified T4 rated trace heat and temperature sensor is included.
CONDITIONS OF CERTIFICATION: YES as shown below:
1. Refer to the installation and operating manual for cell charging conditions.2. The battery box shall not be exposed to mechanical shock.3. If the battery is to be disconnected from its associated equipment in the hazardous area then a suitably approved disconnection device shall be used.

15 General description of equipment or protective system included within the scope of this certificate

The option to fit the battery box with suitably certified T 4 rated trace heating tape (external to the box) and an externally connected temperature sensor is included.

18 Essential health and safety requirements

19 Additional information
"Routine tests", if any:
1. IEC 60079-7 clause 7.2 - Dielectric test for batteries. The insulation resistance of a battery is considered satisfactory if the resistance is at least 1 MO when tested in accordance with 6.6.2.
2. IEC 60079-7 clause 6.6.2 tests -Test conditions are as follows: a) The measuring voltage of the ohmmeter shall be at least 100 V; b) All connections between the battery and the external circuits and, where fitted, the battery
container shall be disconnected; c) The cells shall be filled with electrolyte up to the maximum permissible level.

2. The permitted cell types are lead-acid or nickel-cadmium that are constructed to comply with the relevant IEC constructional standard for the IEC cell type K.
3. The cells used to form the battery shall only be connected in series.
4. The battery shall be made from cells of the same type and from the same manufacturer.
5. The cells shall be operated within the allowable limits of the cell manufacturer.
6. To prevent faults from the charging devices causing over voltage or over current of the cells voltage regulation and current limitation (fuses) will be provided between the charger and the cells.
7. The optional T4 self-limiting trace heating tape if fitted shall be suitably ATEX and IECEx approved apparatus and shall be installed to the external surface of the battery box in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
8. The optional T4 temperature probe if fitted shall be suitability ATEX and IECEx approved apparatus and the electrical connections shall be internal to the battery box.
9. Ex e glands shall be ATEX and IECEx approved.
10. The cell interconnecting conductor sizing shall be in accordance with IEC 60364-5-52: 2009 Edition 3.0 and EN60079-14: 2007 with reference to the maximum ambient temperature of+ 55°C and the conductor not to exceed 70°C or 80°C at the conductor branching point.
