PES Chapters in Region 9There are 30 Chapters, grouped in 4 Areas:
Mexico and Caribbean (8): including Western Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico and Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Centro Occidente and Morelos
Central America and Panama -the CAPANA Council (6): Panama, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica
The Andean Council (5): Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia
The Southern Cone, comprising 11 Chapters in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and in Brazil: Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Brasilia, South Brazil and three additional Joint Chapters in the large sections of South Brazil (Sta. Catarina), Bahia (NorthEast) and Brasilia (Belen in Amazonia)

PES Support Programs for Chapters ( I )• Monetary support to Chapters for good services to Members: • Chapters have to be active and fill their reports by Dec/31;
they can nominate themselves to the Award Programs:
• High Performing Chapter Award (HPCA) up to U$ 1000.- for each chapter meeting the conditions (activities, membership, GOLD, Web-pages, education, Students, etc) For 2008, 7 chapters in R9 received U$ 3650.- (Costa Rica, Morelos, Panama, Peru, Honduras and Guadalajara)
• Outstanding Chapter Award, two U$ 1000.- prizes world-wide AND a paid trip to General Meeting for the ChairIn 2008, Panama and Costa Rica shared the 2nd. Place (small)In previous years, Argentina (2002), Puerto Rico (2001), Panama and Uruguay (2004) have won the First place

PES Support Programs for Chapters ( II )• Distinguished Lecturer Program, very successfulThe Society pays one trip per year per chapter, and the chapter is in
charge of local arrangements and costs.There are 83 Distinguished Lecturers available, 6 of them in Region
9: Ramos (SAL), Jardini (BRA), Acha (MEX), Rudnick (CHI), Gomez (ARG), Fernandez Daher (UY)
Membership Growth Contest, world-wideTwo categories, Large ( >100) and Small (<100) Chapter, each with a
U$1000.- prize and its runner-up with U$500.-1st: Venezuela (2007) and Costa Rica (2008); 2nd Uruguay (2009)
Website Contest, world-wide with a U$1000.- prizeCosta Rica won the 3rd place in 2008 (U$ 250.-)
Outstanding Engineer Award. Recognition for outstanding engineers in the Chapter
