We took it for a test drive and man, does she run and sound good! We took it back to the dealership for a diagnostic on the check-engine light which was explained by the mechanic: the car has no catalytic converters. Works for me! IEMC MUSTANG

This is my 2006 Mustang GT, which I purchased in July 2019 after almost a year of looking for the

right one. It’s barely broken in with only 38,000 miles.

My friend Lyle, at Mike White Ford called me and told me to come down to the dealership.

When I arrived, I saw why he called me: There sat a 2017 Mustang GT350 with only 54 miles on the

odometer. He insisted that we go for a ride.

He drove first and took me down to the CDA Resort golf course where he turned the reins

over to me. We took of and man, I had a huge smile on my face! This car reminded me of my 1970 Trans

Am. The Mustang handled the curves very well and it was fast! Unfortunately, I couldn’t reach an

agreement on price with the dealer on the GT350, which was disappointing, but Lyle promised to keep

me updated when other Mustangs arrive for sale.

Other Mustangs came and went, none of which really excited me, then finally, Lyle sent me

pictures of this car and told me that I had to come and take a look. It would be 10 days before I would be back in town to have a look at the car, and I

told my friend that I would call him as soon

as I was home.

The pictures of the car he sent were okay,

but not extremely exciting, but I want to take

a closer look at it. When I returned to the

dealership for the in-person look at the car I

found it to be better than the pictures, it just

needed a little TLC.

Upon the walk-around inspection, I noticed that the car was lowered and was shod with Nitto

INVO 20-inch tires (255/35/20 in the front and 285/30/20 for the rears). I wasn’t a fan of the black wheels, but it looked nice. The interior was perfect, and it was a 5-speed! Good so far. Then we popped

the hood: Wow! This car has BBK ceramic headers, Airaid cold air intake, MSD coil packs, strut tower

brace, and a brace in the truck. This car had my attention now!

We took it for a test drive and man, does she run and sound good! We took it back to the dealership for a diagnostic on the check-engine light which was explained by the mechanic: the car has no

catalytic converters. Works for me! On the hoist, everything else looked good. Discovered that it had

after-market swat bars, front and rear.

‘Stang of the Month (cont.)

We went inside to talk about some of the items to be addressed: a little road rash on right side wheels, engine and overall detailing and of course, no cats. I made him an offer quite a bit less than the asking price and

they agreed. The car was mine!

While I was waiting for the paperwork, I met a man from the

Mustang Club, though I can’t remember his name. He and his wife were get-

ting their blue Mustang serviced and they told me about the monthly meet-

ings. So, I showed up at the August meeting. Everyone was very welcoming.

Great bunch of people! I put my car in the show at the fairgrounds on 9/11

with a number of other members. It was fun meeting everyone.

I have been very happy with the car. I installed a custom fuse

box cover, strut tower covers, and a plenum cover over the intake. I

also added 4.6 High Performance and GT emblems and Red Line Quick

Lift for the hood. I am looking forward to putting the car in the show at

the fairgrounds again this year. In the future I would like to add Shelby

rims and custom hood.

I really enjoy all of you in the IEMC. I’m looking forward to getting back to normal soon.

- Dan Aldecoa

Back In The Day

Here’s a reminder of the popular Ford-powered Pantera from an article in Super Ford magazine from

1981. I wonder how many club members had/have a Pantera. Write to the editor if you are one.

It doesn’t look like much has changed yet but I

think we are getting closer.

Hopefully you all are doing well and taking good

care of each other. Unfortunately there will be no meeting

in June. We are working on getting a cruise together and

will send out info to you when we can get a definite date

and where.

Don’t despair, the club is not going away and we

will be back together again soon. I know this “staying at

home” thing sucks. It does look a little more promising for

things to open up soon. Thanks to everyone that

understands and has sent me the positive e-mails.

I guess this is a good time for all the rainy weather

we are getting since we have to stay home. I’m looking

forward to a few more days of sunshine and getting the

BBQ going. It really would be nice to take a little vacation

too. I bet I’m not the only one thinking that.

So cross your fingers, stay safe, take care of each

other and wear your face mask where needed. We will

e-mail everyone as things progress. Hang-in-there!

Ponies on the Trail

Every spring Melanie and I have

our own ‘shake down cruise’. We enjoy

driving north on Hwy 41 from our home

in Hayden to Newport, Albeni Falls and

onto Sandpoint before heading home.

The route provides a variety of curves

and straight road to really enjoy our pony. We usually make a pit stop at the Albeni Falls Dam Visitor Center. After

the pit stop we continue into Sandpoint for lunch or dinner depending on how late we slept in.

Well with all that’s going on in the

world, the IEMC’s “Shake Down

Cruise” and North Idaho Ford Mus-

tang Group (NIFMG) “Spring Cruise”

were cancelled. After talking with

several friends and Mustang owners,

we decided to invite everyone with a Mustang to join us on our cruise.

On Saturday May 9th a group of Mustang owners and members of the IEMC and NIFMG gathered together to en-

joy their Mustangs and a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Everyone met at Croffoot Park on Lancaster Rd in Hayden,

ID. After some catching up with friends, Mustang musings and current events we headed west to Hwy 41 and then

north through Rathdrum, Spirit Lake and onto Newport. Road conditions were good and traffic was light which

allowed us to let our pony’s run wild.

We drove through Newport and east on Hwy 2 to Albeni Falls. We

paused for awhile at the visitor’s center and waited for several

cars to catch up. Once everyone arrived we headed to the low-

er level of the park next to the Albeni Falls Dam and the Pend

Oreille River for lunch. The park made for an awesome venue

while everyone enjoyed lunch, making new friends and catching

up with old ones. After lunch everyone headed home. Many re-

turned through Washington while several continued through to

Sandpoint and headed home.

It was great to be on the road again with other

Mustang enthusiasts. Thank you to all those who

joined us on our ‘shake down cruise’.
