IETF Trust : Accomplishments since IETF-76 (Hiroshima)
The IETF Trust Adopted new Trust Legal Provisions (TLP 4.0) Effective Date: December 15, 2009 There has been a meeting since then, but that drove
other efforts. This broke the logjam that had held up the publication of
independent submissions for almost a year. 29 documents were freed by this step. Our thanks to all who assisted with this.

IETF Trust : Recent Activities : IPR Issues
On May 4th, 2010, the Trust received a request from the IEEE for the authority to produce Derivative Works for Ethernet MIBs
We set up a web page to track such issues http://trustee.ietf.org/ipr-issues.html
The Trust filled in the IEEE form and responded to this request. As these relevant documents are pre-RFC5378, the
relevant rights are mostly held by the authors The IEEE is pursuing those.

IETF Trust : Recent Activities : Defense of IPR
An issue has arisen concerning the use of derivative works based on the IETF Logo I.e., there is a web site that uses the IETF Logo in their
logo Such usage is not allowed without explicit
permission from the Trust, and a letter requesting its removal has been sent.

IETF Trust : Recent Activities : FAQ Update
Since the IETF Trust has adopted new Trust Legal Provisions (TLP 4.0), the Trust Copyright FAQ file is out of date. In particular, the Alternate Stream documents need to be discussed.
A new FAQ is in the works, has been circulated among the Trustees, and should be released publicly soon.
There is also a “FAQ for use of the IETF acronym and logo” which is now 5 years old and may need to be updated. This matter is under consideration. http://trustee.ietf.org/25.html

The Trust @ 5.
The Trust Agreement will be 5 years old December 15, 2010. http://iaoc.ietf.org/docs/IETF-Trust-Agreement-Executed-12-15-05.pdf
However, July 1, 2010, marked an important date : The legal maturity of the Trust. “After July 1, 2010, the Trustees may unilaterally amend the
provisions of this Agreement without the written consent of the Settlors”
The Settlors being ISOC and CNRI.
While we have no plans at present to make any such changes, a review of the document in light of experience is called for and is underway.

IETF Trust Actions : Response to Subpoenas
The IETF Trust has to respond to request for physical proof of attendance at IETF meetings.
These are for blue sheets. They are used in patent litigation to show actual presence
and involvement in a meeting. We have received no subpoenas requiring a Trust response in
2010 to date.
