My Motivation for this Choice

Apartheid and the Mandela Legacy

Apartheid

Made Law in 1948, Apartheid signaled the End of Racial Integration in South Africa, with the National Party Coming to Power in South Africa.

Apartheid

All non-white people became second and third class citizens and were oppressed and discriminated against, whilst the Minority, reaped the economic Benefits of South Africa in the Form of Gold and other Precious Metals.

Forced Labour was the Flavour of the day, where black people had to leave the Homelands, in order to work for their families.

Formed in 1912, the African National Congress or ANC was formed in the interests of Liberating Black People in South Africa.

They Fought Tirelessly for Decades until the Fall of the Apartheid Regime, under Nelson Mandela’s Leadership, the ANC won by an astounding Majority in the 1994 General Elections.

Nelson Mandela

He went on to Run South Africa and brought peace in a time of uncertainty, as well as, not exacting revenge on his oppressors, he lived and preached reconciliation up until his last breath.

Will be worth a lot of money and have extreme sentimental and historical value once the time capsule is opened.

It Illustrates South Africa’s contribution to the World

And stands as a testament to how peace and reconciliation far outweigh war and revenge.
