Windshield Check List – Questions to ask your customer Acoustic Interlayer Do you see the word “Acoustic” or “Sound” printed on your windshield?
Collision Avoidance Does your vehicle warn you or brake for you when it detects a potential
collision? Do you see a camera attachment fixed next to your rear view mirror?
Condensation or Humidity Sensor Does your windshield detect condensation [window fogging] and
automatically turn on or turn up the defroster? It could do this before it becomes obvious to the driver.
Electrochromic Mirror Does your rear view mirror automatically dim? Can you see a power line connecting your mirror?
Heads Up Display (HUD) Do you see images of your dashboard gauges projected onto the windshield?
Heated Windshield/Heated Wiper Park Area Do you see a grid of lines that run along the bottom of your windshield where
your wiper blades rest? Does the ice melt quickly from your windshield when your defrost button is on?
Hydrophobic Does water bead and run off your windshield easily when traveling?
Lane Departure Warning Do you get a warning signal when you move out of your lane without
signalling? Do you see a camera attachment fixed next to your rear view mirror?
Light Sensor
Do your headlights automatically dim at night when bright lights are approaching or there is oncoming traffic?
(BMW with automatic high beam technology) Rain Sensor Do your windshield wipers automatically come on when your windshield gets
wet?
Third Frit Visor Is there a black dot pattern that drops down in the middle of your windshield between the sun visors?
Tint or Shade Does your vehicle have a shaded band across the top? This is a darker tint
about 4-6 inches tall.

Infrared Interlayer An additional layer that reflects infrared light waves from sunlight and in turn reduces the
heat build up inside the vehicle.
Traffic Sign Recognition The use of a camera that is able to monitor road signs. Once detected the sign is displayed in
the instrument panel and a red border will flash around the display if an infraction (speed limit) is noticed.
Laminated Hydrophobic Front Door Glass & Front Windshield A special coating applied to the glass that repels the water allowing for easier viewing when
it’s raining.
Laser Deletion Area A small portion of the windshield that has no solar coating, allowing for radar and laser to pass through
