FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM 2017/QUINCENA POR LA LIBERDAD 2017 The Diocese of Raleigh invites all to attend a Celebration of Freedom Mass on Thursday, June 29 at 6:30 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2817 Poole Road, Raleigh. A reception and picnic sponsored by the Knights of Co-lumbus will follow the Mass. This event is part of the sixth annual Fortnight for Freedom, a 14-day celebration of our religious freedom from
June 21 to July 4, 2017. The theme this year is “Freedom for Mission” and will celebrate the values of our faith with respect to the gift of life, marriage, conscience rights, and many humanitarian concerns. During the Fortnight, the faithful are encouraged to pray for the intention of preserving and promoting religious freedom and to dedicate any of their regularly scheduled devotions such as Holy Hours or the Holy Rosary to this intention. PARISH COUNCIL SUMMARY/RESUMEN CONSEJO PARROQUIAL The meeting on June 12th started with a Prayer by Padre Leon. FINANCE: Tim Romocki told us the budget looked good. One of the goals is to make St. Bernadette’s self-sufficient. Achieving that goal would mean a chance to change our status from a Mission Church to a Parish with a Priest not an Administrator. BUILDING: Jim Kennady reported that the security system still needs electrical hook-ups and a decision made on where to install the cameras. Keith Bost is drawing plans to extend the front entrance of the Church and leveling the ground. FUNDRAISING: Maggie Davies reported a profit of $2420.00 from the Chicken Pickin. Some of the profit from the Food Festival was used to pay for entertainment at the festival. SOCIAL: Paula Skelton said they made $430.00 from the basket raffle. They will also take charge of the Father’s Day Reception. SOUND SYSTEM: Bob Carr said the system has been installed. Instrument jacks and a lock still needs to be installed outside the cabinet. PA-DRE’S REMARKS: The Stewardship Fair was successful. Training will be completed for each individual Ministry. A Grotto is being constructed behind the Church. When finished, it will hold several statues and benches. Com-bined with candles and landscaping, it will be conducive to prayer and quiet reflection. Padre proposed the possi-bility that we may want to consolidate our efforts at Chicken Pickin to helping the Knights with their booth. He will propose this to the Knights and they will decide. Final prayer was at 8:09. The next meeting will be on August 14th at 7 PM. La reunión del 12 de junio comenzó con una oración por el Padre León.
