DESCONTAMINATE Narra una leyenda que Pandora, una mujer de la mitología griega, llevo a la tierra una caja miste-riosa que contenía todos los males. Cuando la caja fue abierta todos los males se esparcieron por el mundo y solo quedo dentro la esperanza. El corazón del hombre se parece a esta caja funesta. “De él proceden los malos propósitos, las fornicacio-nes, los homicidios, las codicias, la envidia, la injusti-cia... ¿Pero ese corazón guarda todavía la esperanza? La contaminación ambiental nace del humo de las chimeneas, de los gases nocivos, de los desechos, los residuos industriales y puede envenenar al hombre. La contaminación moral viaja al revés. Nace de nuestro corazón y va intoxicando las ciudades, las empresas, las iglesias, las escuelas, los campos, las fábricas, las oficias, los negocios. Por lo contrario, la vocación del bautizado consiste en orientar toda la creación hacia el bien común, ha-cia la salvación. El agua y el petróleo, el pan, los mi-nerales, el aire, los frutos de las plantas, las estrellas y el mundo inexplorado del espacio y del mar tendrán por el hombre, un poder de salvación. Pero poseemos a la vez la triste capacidad de conta-minar el universo con nuestro pecado y egoísmo. San Pablo lo explica a la Iglesia de Roma: Que si la crea-ción algunas veces produce el mal, no es culpa suya, sino del hombre que la ha desviado de los caminos rectos. No ser justos apenas de apariencias. Aunque ninguno quisiera declararse fariseo. Sin embargo to-dos somos en nuestro comportamiento un poco fari-seos. Alguien podría afirmar: "Es todo un caballero", "Una excelente dama", pero... Y el corazón? Cristo puede crear en nosotros un corazón nuevo. David después de su adulterio y homicidio, oro a Se-ñor con humildad: "Oh Dios, crea en mi un corazón nuevo, un corazón quebrantado y humillado Tu no lo desprecias..." Porque dentro de cada corazón, aun el más extraviado, se esconde siempre esta gozosa espe-ranza: ¡Jesucristo es mi Salvador! Bendiciones, Rev. Wilson Cuevas, Pastor
DECONTAMINATE YOURSELF There is a legend that says that Pandora, a woman from Greek mythology, took a myste-rious box to Earth that contained all the evils. When the box was opened all the evils were dispersed throughout the world and only hope
remained in the box. The heart of man seems like that fatal box. “From him come bad intentions, fornication, homicides, greed, envy, injustice...But that heart still has hope? Environmental contamination is born of smoke-stacks, noxious gasses, waste, industrial residuals that can poison man. Moral contamination travels in reverse. It is born in our hear ts and contaminates our cities, our enterprises, churches, schools, coun-tries, factories, professions, and businesses. On the contrary, the calling of the baptized consists of guiding all creation towards the common good, towards salvation. The water, oil, the bread, the min-erals, the air, the fruits of the plants, the stars, the unexplored world of space and the ocean will have the power of salvation from man. Sadly, we also possess the capacity to contaminate the universe with our sin and egotism. St. Paul ex-plains it to the Roman Church: If creation sometimes produces the bad, it is not its fault, but man’s who has deviated from the straight paths. Be fair not only by appearances. Although no one wants to declare himself to be a hypocrite. Nevertheless we all are a bit hypocritical in our behavior. Someone could say: “He is a gentlemen”, An excellent lady”, but...what about the heart? Christ can create in us a new heart. David, after his adultery and homicide, prayed to the Lord hum-bly: “Oh God, create in me a new heart, a broken and humbled heart that you do not despise…” Because inside every heart, even the most lost, hides always this joyful hope: Jesus is my Savior! * Haga oración, aun cuando consideres que has sido una persona muy buena o muy pecadora... ∗ No te hagas ilusiones, pensando que con tus propias fuerzas puedes alcanzar la salvación eterna, que nos ganó Cristo con su muerte y resurrección. * Si eres varón, no digas que orar es "cosa de mujeres" porque entonces tendrías que aceptar también que la vida eterna es "cosa de mujeres" ∗ Habla con Dios, porque lo necesitamos y El siempre esta dispuesto a escucharnos y ayudarnos en todas nuestras necesidades. ∗ Tienes que orar mucho: porque si no, Como vas a tener fuerzas
para vivir de acuerdo a sus ensenadas, a perdonar y servir a tus hermanos?

∗ Pray, even though you may consider that you have been a very good person or a terrible sinner…
∗ Do not create illusions, thinking that with your own strength you can gain eternal salvation, which was won for us by Christ with His death and resurrection. ∗ If you are a man, do not say that prayer is only “for women” be-
cause then you would have to also accept that eternal life is only for “women”
∗ Speak with God, because we need Him and He is always will - ing to listen to us and help us in all our needs.
* You must pray: because if you do not, How are you going to have the strength to live according to God’s teachings, to forgive and serve your brothers?

Saturday, August 19th at 5:30 pm we will have the Mass in honor of St. Pius X, the patron of our parish community. After Mass we will get together in our Plaza. All are cordially invit-ed. Esta feria de salud será una gran oportunidad para nuestra comunidad para interactuar con los muchos profesionales de la salud en El Paso.
