I’m still unsure when the moment for saying that it's over,as after a while it can sound a little out of place. Still, atthe beginning (we are still at the beginning) of 2011, withthe resolutions hopefully still in place, we at iheart wantto make sure you have the happiest start to the New Year!

Resolution wise, I’d be interested to see some stats interms of how many of us are still going strong. I am endeavouring to get out running as much as possible, andmaking sure I get out the city more, but coming out myflat this morning to the chilly air and damp ground doesn’tnecessarily appeal to the “LETS GO RUNNING!” gene.This is the season less of resolution but more of disciplineI believe. Easy-as to make a decision to do something,takes a bit more gumption to get up and go!

Whatever your resolutions or goals for this year: go forthem, it could be a year that changes your life if you reallyput something into it!

“Different ingredients have to be all choppedup and put together to make it what it is as afinished product before anyone is gonna wantit”. It’s a fair enough explanation, if a littlebizarre. I know I wouldn’t be up for eating abowl of lentils, unless there was some sort ofsoupy context to them.

This Silent Forest are a six piece band, ledby Macdonald. They are about to releasetheir first single Falter Discover, a gorgeous,organic blend of modern folk, jovial pop andcrisp Scottish vocals that are up there with thelikes of Frightened Rabbit (with lyrics just as honest).

The thing that separates them from the rest isquite simply how hard they work. With a 9 to5, Monday to Friday working week outsideany rehearsal time, it’s fair to say things canprobably get a bit full on at times. When Iasked if it can be challenging doing thingsthis way, Macdonald simply answers “not really, it needs to be done”.

When it comes to their recording process, itbecomes clear that this is a band that have aneye for excellence and a drive to do everything but ‘settle’. “We spent 53 hoursrecording these two songs and we haveacoustic versions, instrumental versions anda remix of the single” he says, with just theright amount of pride.

Pulling them even further away from thenorm is the little known fact that for everycopy of Falter Discover sold, This Silent Forest have decided they want to give 10p to

Nordoff Robins Music Therapy. Having studied Behavioral Science at University,Macdonald talks about his wholehearted belief that the guys at Nordoff Robins areright on the money with the suggestion thatfor people with communicative disorders,music therapy can enhance expressive and interactive ability.

Falter Discover is released on March 7th.

I really loved going to GVR - I've triednumerous hairdressers in Glasgow sinceI moved here but they were amazing. Theprice was so reasonable and the staffwere lovely.

My hair is naturally very big andwavy/frizzy, kind of like a lion. ThisBrazilian Blow Dry has been amazing -with the aftercare products I can wash myhair and when I dry it it's so straight! If Iuse my GHD's it makes it even straighterand so glossy. My hair is so much moremanageable now.

I needed a cut and colour too and decidedto go for a full fringe and copper/gingercolours - I get bored really easily with myhair! Heather did my hair and I totallylove it, she was brilliant. She was tellingme they do student nights too where I canget a discount - this plus the whole experience means I'm definitely going tobe a regular customer there from now on!
