Next In Line At The Judgment

Larry Cline - Hardin Valley church of Christ - 11/3/2013

A business man every year would get his lawyer and accountant

together and say, “ I died last night.

Please tell me what happened to:”

OUR PREMISE:

You died last night & now you’re standing in line to be judged by Christ.

30“Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

(Acts 17:30-31)

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (II Corinthians 5:10)

So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God. (Romans 14:12)

YOU ARE NEXT IN LINE. Wonder what you

would be thinking?

1. Did I Obey The Gospel? However, they did not all heed the

good news; for Isaiah says, “LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?” (Romans 10:16)

dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. (II Thessalonians 1:8)

What is the gospel? ◦For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. (I Corinthians 15:3)

Gospel has commands to be obeyed!◦15And He said to them, “Go into all the

world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16)

◦“Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent.” (Acts 17:30)

◦for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:10)

◦Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

2. Have I Been Faithful?Test yourselves to see if you are in the

faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test? (II Corinthians 13:5)

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of

you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. (Revelation 2:10)

Faithful in what?◦The Word Be diligent to present yourself

approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15)

◦Prayer Therefore, confess your sins to one

another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. (James 5:16)

Giving◦Each one must do just as he has

purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (II Corinthians 9:7)

Attending◦not forsaking our own assembling

together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:25)

WAS I

3. Did I Serve Others?“…do as I have done to you.”

(John 13:13f)

Nothing but servants in heaven!

(Matthew 25)

4. Did I Care Enough To Share What I Knew With Others?

18“When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 19Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself.” (Ezekiel 3:18-19)

LORD,I’ll talk,

I’ll shout it out,

I’ll care!

MAJOR PREMISE IS WRONG…

But it could be true tomorrow.
