FOREWORD
YBhg. Dr. Maszlee Malik
Minister of Education
Malaysia
I would like to first congratulate Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in particular the Faculty
of Administrative Science and Policy Studies for organising this vital knowledge event and for
the hospitality.
I would like to extend a special recognition to the commitment shown by the ICoPS and ITeC
2019 committee who have worked very hard for this event, particularly in conceptualising its
substance.
Technological and economic progress can no longer be assumed to be aligned with social
progress. The current modern society over the next half century will be largely shaped by how
well societies succeed in collectively defining their priorities, engaging essential questions about
values and ethics and aligning technological development accordingly. This is the core idea and
thought that I would like to share with you as I approach the idea of embracing neo-tech from the
lens of social sciences as the core theme of this conference.
How people think about technologies matters. This is not simply because technologies are the
primary contributor to economic growth worldwide. It is because technologies shape people, and
people shape technologies. This relationship not only impacts research agendas, it also impacts
investment flows, business models and the content of our education system in particular the role
of higher education institutions and universities. All of us must figure out how technology can
empower, create meaningful opportunities and enhance an individual‟s potential and institutions.
The increasing attention given to how technologies can support, undermine, influence and
contravene societal values is evidence of a shifting global consciousness towards a more
constructive view of technology, its complexity and its impact on daily life that we must be part
of. If we continue to treat technologies as mere objects, industrial products or external forces per
se, then it will prevent us from understanding how technologies impact the world around us.
We must not fail to identify their cohesiveness, capabilities, perspectives on what is meaningful,
vii
and ultimately what they value. We need to invest in a more grounded approach to technological
development that doesn‟t lose sight of the true ends of technological progress which are social
progress and the well-being of humanity in terms of opportunities and self-realisation and
comprehends the difference between material wealth and quality of life. In practice, rethinking
technological development will require taking a human-centred approach – that recognizes how
technologies and societies are co-produced – and prioritising a future that involves all
stakeholders, fostering the goal of greater social cohesion, trust and well-being.
I am glad that this conference has chosen this topic as an area of discussion. I hope the ICoPS
and ITeC 2019 conference will be a great success and able to shape some future directions to
address this issue.

FOREWORD
Emeritus Professor Datuk Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim
Vice Chancellor
Universiti Teknologi MARA
I would also like to welcome everyone to the 7th International Conference on Public Policy and
Social Sciences (ICoPS) and the 2nd International Invention, Innovation & Technology
Competition 2019 (ITeC) of which, this year‟s Conference is themed "Embracing Neo-
Technology Through the Lens of Social Sciences".
I hope that we will have an exciting and fruitful discourse on topics pertaining to the theme and
more importantly, actively strategise actionable plans for the immediate future.
The ICoPS' conference and ITeC's Invention and Technology competition bring forward
prominent academicians, researchers, innovators and designers from various fields to showcase
their valuable work.
This event affirms UiTM's commitment and effort for academic excellence and I am delighted
to see that we have yet again organised an annual conference that capitalises on our strengths and
have built on our common commitment to find solutions to issues affecting the community and
the nation at large.
The conference has adopted a timely theme, “EMBRACING NEO-TECHNOLOGY THROUGH
THE LENS OF SOCIAL SCIENCES”. As we know, trade and commerce activities which were
once human–oriented are now mostly dependent on technology as an important differentiator. It
serves as a source of competitive advantage as technology today has disrupted many traditional
businesses and processes that for many businesses, not following the bandwagon of the
"technologically savvy corporations" is not an option they can choose.
What we have to acknowledge is that technology and innovation are reshaping society and
changing the way we do things monumentally. This level of integration from all aspects is the
next great societal evolution as we move towards IR4.0 and in the foreseeable future, IR5.0. The
world is reimagining and recalibrating around digital innovation of which affects companies that
provide those services greatly. The technological revolution we live in today, and the innovations
that it has brought about, are only limited by our imagination and the degree of social acceptance
ix
as to what is possible.
The breadth and depth of the research we embark should provide a readiness to take on new
challenges faced by society. It also should provide a basis for close collaboration with industry
on different levels and makes us a point of reference.
In the same vein, active collaborations with fellow academics and partners, at multiple levels
such as between faculties, other renowned universities, research institutes, both in and outside of
Malaysia and other parts of the world are welcomed. The effort taken by FSPPP in organising
this event is an example of a programme that supports UiTM's initiative in research and
development.
I would like to accord my appreciation and thanks to Yang Berhormat Dr Maszlee and everyone
present for your support in these two days. My fervent wish is that the spill over of this event
will create exciting new research collaboration endeavours that are not only disruptive to current
processes by a new technology advancement; but also conscientious and mindful towards
responsible societal requirements.I wish all of you a very rewarding conference and competition.

Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Jalil Mohamed Ali
Dean
Faculty of Administrative Science & Policy Studies
Universiti Teknologi MARA
On behalf of the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies, I have the great pleasure
to welcome all of you to the 7th International Conference on Public Policy and Social Sciences
2019 (ICoPS) and the 2nd International Invention, Innovation & Technology Competition 2019
(ITeC). The theme of the conference entitled “Embracing Neo-Technology through The Lens of
Social Sciences” addresses the challenging issues within the field of social sciences worldwide
through embracing the neo-technology from various facets. It is not only relevant and significant
but comes at a time the whole world is at the edge of Industrial Revolution Era. The quest for
knowledge has been from the beginning of time but knowledge only becomes valuable when it is
disseminated and applied to benefit of humankind. It is hope that ICoPS 2019 will be a platform
to gather and disseminate the latest knowledge among researchers, academicians, practitioners as
well as to those attending this conference by sharing and discussing new findings.
It is envisaged that the intellectual discourse will result in future collaborations between
universities, research institutions and industry both locally and internationally. Generally, when
looking at Neo-technology perspective, element of technology itself strongly shows that it is
inseparable part of our daily life. It has improved many aspects in our lives. It is also satisfies
every wishes of man. Social sciences strengthen the technology through many ways. In this case,
social sciences can be used to understand public values and how they react to such
developments. With the help of social science research and surveys, the key actors can
understand the inhibitions of people better and address them accordingly to influence policy-
making. However, the most important is that social scientists solve some of the biggest problems
that humanity faces. They can also develop better technological solutions that are conducive to
the societal needs and sustainable at the same time. This paves the way technologies to flourish
in society. Both field of Neo-Technology and Social Sciences need to work closely so that they
can act as a link between people and technology. In relation to that, we are very happy that you
have chosen ICoPS 2019 as this year‟s venue. I am grateful to the many experts who have come
to share their knowledge. I also welcome the many representatives of governments, industry
associations and NGOs who have joined us.
xi
In conjunction with ICoPS 2019, the organizer also established another platform for
acknowledging those in the area of Invention and Innovation through hosting the 2nd
International Invention, Innovation and Technology Design Competition 2019 (ITeC) within the
same venues. This will be held on the second day of the conference. With the aim of promoting
innovative ideas in education, this platform also creates collaboration between institutions of
higher education, agencies and industries to share their products and creative ideas that can be
commercialized. Moreover, this competition acts as an ideal platform to encourage students,
lecturers, administrative officers and the public to exhibit or display their products or prototype
as well as new ideas that contain commercial values.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the organizing committee for their tremendous efforts in
organizing this conference. This conference will contribute immensely to the betterment of social
sciences. I hope that the conference will accomplish all its aims and earnestly desire that all the
participants will be able to benefit from the presentation and discussion.

SPEAKER 1
YBhg. Dr. Maszlee Malik
Minister of Education
Malaysia
Born on 19 December 1974 in the Malaysian state of Johor, the Honourable
Dr. Maszlee Malik is the 19th Education Minister of Malaysia and Member
of Parliament for Simpang Renggam. While Dr. Maszlee is relatively new to
active politics, his vast experience in academic research and teaching forms
the bedrock to his goal of advancing transformation that is aligned with the
needs of the people and the aspirations of the country. His academic
qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Good Governance from
University of Durham, UK, a Master‟s Degree from the University of
Malaya and a Bachelor‟s Degree from Al al- Bayt University, Jordan.
Latterly, Dr. Maszlee taught as an Associate Professor at International
Islamic University Malaysia for nearly ten years, a period where he first
developed a commitment towards empowering students at higher education
institutions with the autonomy and ability to be politically active. In an era
of vast technological change and globalization, Dr. Maszlee has also
spearheaded various initiatives to ensure that Malaysian students remain
globally competitive. Digital literacy is essential to face the increasingly
tech-driven future, which Dr. Maszlee fully championed through the
#STEM4ALL campaign launch with Microsoft. Conversely, he recognises
that vocational education is essential in transforming Malaysia from a nation
of consumers to a nation of producers. He has formed a national steering
committee that works to expand collaborations with industrial stakeholders,
and increase access to polytechnics and community colleges. Dr Maszlee
believes that every child deserves an equal opportunity in education. He has
pioneered efforts to protect the access and quality of education for
marginalized and disadvantaged communities. He has increased access for
nearly 5 000 students from lowerincome communities in fully-sponsored
state boarding schools, and is working towards providing free meals to
disadvantaged students nationwide. Furthermore, he has introduced the Zero
Reject Policy, which ensures that stateless children have access to the
national schooling system. As a person of Hakka Chinese and Malay
descent, he embraces his unique identity as well as the diversity of cultures
that belong to Malaysia. His efforts to encourage unity in education involve
overseeing the review of the national curriculum, to embed and prioritize
cross-cultural values and ethics such as love, happiness, and mutual respect,
which he believes are fundamental values of the Malaysian community. He
has hit the ground sprinting in seeking out opportunities to positively
transform the Malaysian education system. He believes that for any
transformation to happen rapidly and efficiently, policymakers need to listen
to the ground in order to ensure that every stakeholder and every problem is
heard and acted upon. In the early months of his occupancy as the minister,
he has already visited countless dilapidated schools and met with hundreds
of teachers and students. These efforts were key to cutting through the
bureaucracy and really understanding the problems faced by students and
xvi
educators. Dr. Maszlee is married to Dr. Hamidah Mat and is the father of
four children. Despite his busy schedule, this dedicated family man regularly
spends time with his family. Dr Maszlee has a fervent passion for writing; he
has authored numerous books and papers that have gained international
critical acclaim. He is also an avid follower of the creative and performing
arts and hopes to integrate popular culture with pertinent educational values.

Prof. Dr. Jasmine Ahmad
Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies Universiti Teknologi MARA
Industrial engagement is one of the important components in ensuring the relevancy of the
program offered by the university. Not only that, the times higher education world university
ranking has taken into consideration the contribution of industry- income and knowledge transfer
to be part of assessment (2.5%) in deciding the ranking. Furthermore, the ranking considers
sustainable goal development (SDG 9: industry, innovation and infrastructure) as part of
determining the best university in the world. As UiTM is pursuing to a prestige university, it has
included the industrial income and industrial networking as part of the university key
performance indicator. Therefore, various collaboration with the industry has been pursued by
Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies (FSPPP) to ensure its program being
recognised and tailored to the market demand and fulfilling the objectives of the industrial
engagement. However, the level of engagement is yet to be measured. This measurement is
significant to offers the possibility of calculating a fair value of industrial engagement and
providing recommendations for improving university–industry linkages (Kaklauskas, et. al,
2018). As a result, we initiated the industrial engagement performance index as an initial effort
to measure the level of engagement pursued by FSPPP in achieving university and nation goals.

FSKM, UiTM Shah Alam
Patriotism is the spirit of love towards one‟s country. A sense of Patriotism is not present by
itself in human life, but this feeling has to be fertilized and nurtured to be powerful in the soul of
each and every citizen. Patriotism have five elements which is Iconoclastic Patriotism, Symbolic
Patriotism, Capitalistic Patriotism, Instinctive Environmental Patriotism and Nationalistic
Symbolic Patriotism. The young generations, that born after Malaysia gained independence from
Britain in 1957 are the ones who will be leading the government as well as the country in the
future. In this modern era, they found to have low spirit of Patriotism. They lack the awareness
how important to have Patriotism spirit for the future. In addition, the negative attitude among
the young generation could affect the quality of the young generation which can give big impact
to the country. Next, lack of the history knowledge because they lost their interest in learning
history by using book. The best way to attract their interest to learn history is by converting the
information into interactive learning method. The approach that are taken for this project is by
giving them awareness about their level of patriotism and also by converting the information into
interactive learning method. The objective of this project is to identify the requirements, design
and develop Pendekar Muda game of mobile learning application about the Patriotism The paper
aims are to develop a game that will show the level of Patriotism and also to give awareness
about the Patriotism among the adolescent. The target user for this project are the young
generation from the age of 10 to 12 years old that categorized as adolescent. The methodology
approach that would apply in this project is Design Thinking model that covered empathies,
define, ideate, prototype and testing phase. This methodology is suitable for interactive learning
development process. The adolescent can know their level after they answer multiple-choice
question. If they cannot achieve the minimum score, there is a help for them to pass the
checkpoint. The help consist of information that related to the question. The last part is they can
know their result based on their correct answer and the result will display in a graphical way.
Last but not least, this application is to improve the spirit patriotism of the young generation.

CORPORATE GOVERNANCE – A POCKET DICTIONARY
Farihah Hassan

Normarliana Laili
Fadhirul Hisham bin Aziz
Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies Universiti Teknologi MARA
Corporate governance has received a considerable attention from the private and public sectors
around the globe due to the exogenous shock in the number of markets. The lack of good
governance and knowledge of the practitioners was the main catalyst of this failure. There are
remarks from prominent personalities such as Dr Farish Ahmad Noor, Political Scientist and
Nanyang Technology University Senior Fellow that said, “Malaysians lack of knowledge on the
concept of governance was the root problem”. This is supported by a research done on the
population of Malaysian Federal Statutory Bodies (FSB) that is at below average level of
knowledge of corporate governance. This call for the important of highlighting more education
of basic corporate governance before the comprehensive code. Therefore, this Pocket Dictionary
is produced as an aide memoir for corporate governance practitioners and students studying for
the corporate governance subject. There are several glossaries in the Bursa Malaysia Listing
Requirements, Malaysian Code of Corporate Governance, Securities Commission and other
publications, but little efforts are made to compile those glossaries into a standardized glossary.
Therefore, this dictionary aims at consolidating those glossaries and improvise the contents to
facilitate dissemination of corporate governance basic knowledge to all interested parties. It is
hoped that this pocket dictionary will be informative for all sectors and give a good
understanding of the key words to people who may have only a little or no knowledge of the
practice.

In June 2017, seven (7) lecturers from the faculty of Administrative Science and Policies
(FSPPP) in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kedah has initiated and developed a web link
that provides report duty procedure, “1 Hour Report Duty Procedure (HRDP)”. The web link
aims to reduce the period taken from days to one hour in order to complete the registration
process. The link is attached with the information and documents required for new lecturers‟
report duty process at UiTM Kedah. The report duty procedure is an important process in any
organisation, and this process may be delayed by bureaucratic procedures that are too rigid.
Thus, systematic, specific, and swift report duty process is important in producing industrious
worker and to support initiatives by the organisation. Previously, the traditional report duty
procedures are rigid and consume lots of time. The conventional procedure requires a new
lecturer to spend few days just to complete their registration process as they need to visit more
than one department. Normally, it took them up to seven working days or even a month, to
complete the inflexible report duty procedures. The sluggish completion was due to the lecturers
having to physically attend different departments involved in the report duty process. With this
in mind, the „1 Hour Report Duty Procedure‟ (HRDP) web link is developed. It is a simple and
structured report duty process that will minimise time, effort, and monetary waste. This effort
aims to reduce the bureaucracy in report duty process. The HRDP deregulates unnecessary
procedures and regulation. This web link is viewed as a tool in improving the flow of the report
duty process, influencing the productivity rate. Through this new procedure, the authority and its
responsibilities are centralised. The web link is attached with the information and documents
required for new lecturers to report their duty at UiTM Kedah. The link is developed to shorten
the period taken to complete the registration process; the improved process is expected to be
completed within an hour. By using the web link, the new staff is able to download all the
relevant documents and forms involved before arriving at the campus. Furthermore, the web link
is designed with intuitive and navigable external links. Through this web link, new lecturers will
be able to access important information to complete the report duty process such as the reporting
procedures and person in charge. Other than time-saving purposes, the development of this link
is hoped to ensure a more organised and systematic report duty system. “1 Hour Report Duty
Procedure (HRDP)” web link is also accessible through external links on computers or
smartphones. This paper explained the „1 Hour Report Duty Procedure‟ (HRDP) as an
administrative tool, its development process, its impact on the administrative system of the
UiTM Kedah, and the challenges faced in building and sustaining the system. The “1 Hour
6
Report Duty Procedure (HRDP)” proves to be an excellent administrative tool that improves
productivity and efficiency of report duty procedures, and is critical to ensure a functioning
administrative process.

This project is about a mobile application called the Quranic Verse Finder. The main idea of
developing this mobile application is to help preachers in preparing their speech text. Based on
preliminary investigation, the minimum time for a preacher to prepare a speech for a given topic
is 3 hours. This process is very time consuming since the speech needs to refer to different
source of reference such as the Quran and Hadith. The existing Quran search on the website or
mobile application are from unknown source of reference. Therefore, to solve the problems
mentioned above, this application offers an efficient method to search and identify any Quran
verses for reference. With this application, the user can identify the juzuk‟s number, the name of
the Surah, which number of verses in the Surah and the meaning of the verses of a specific verse.
The Quranic Verse Finder is different from other existing Quran Search applications due to its
bilanguage feature. This application provides Malay and English translation. It also has other
special features such as Bookmark that allows specific Quran verse to be saved for later
reference. Moreover, due to the current trends, the Quranic Verse Finder allows user to share it
using popular social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Malaysian Parliament recently has passed the new laws of suffrage where the age for eligible
voters is lowered from 21 to 18 years old. It is expected that 7.8 additional voters will be in the
electoral roll as first-timers. The number is so huge that government and our current education
system do not have ample time to thoroughly educate them. Therefore, this raised the question
whether our young voters are ready enough to decide what the best for the country is. The need
to have informed voters is very critical that we come out with the idea of “I am young and I am a
voter” I-Edu kit. This kit is purposely designed to equip Malaysian young voters on election and
democracy related knowledge but in a way that is more interactive, attractive and amusing that
suit with the nature of the teenagers themselves. This digital kit will consist of (1) digital and
interactive info graphics on how to enroll as voter, diagram on election process, criteria of a good
voter; (2) simulation game from the election result announced till laws made for the people; (3)
sets of ballot paper sample that can be filled by the user . All materials are in digitized form/
online application software. The target group for this kit is secondary school students. The users
who complete all stages will earn online certificate that is acknowledged by Malaysian Election
Commission and this certificate will add merit for university enrolment that they will apply later.
The ultimate goal of this project is not only to encourage them to participate but also to increase
their awareness on how importance for them to take part in public affairs. The motto for this
project is, if you want to change the system, you must be part of the system.

The main important aspect to differentiate from one individual to other human being is memory.
Other than that, the ability to record the information and remember what we saw and learn is also
called as memory. There are three basic forms of memory which allow the brain to encode, store
and retrieve and without all three basic forms of memory, individual even fails to build personal
rapport to acquire new knowledge and unable to do basic functions of daily life include in study.

Most of the clothesline in the market take up a lot of space and cause a problem for the users
who live in a small area. For example, users who live in an apartment or flat has difficulty
viewing the scenery because of the available space used for clothesline. Another issue regarding
the available clothesline in the market is that it is not made with light material resulting with a
problem to carry the clothesline around, making it less portable. In light of this problem, it led
the group to come out with a portable clothesline that is easy to handle, carry around and, had
dual function. There are two important functions of this product, namely, to hang clothes and
serve as a place to dry a wet shoe at the same time. The product features a lightweight joint
which could be connected and disconnected easily and requires small storage. The Ampaian is
suitable for everyone who lives in small dwelling such as apartments, flats, or dormitory.

As a student, lecturer, teachers, employee and even employer, it has become very complicated
and tiresome seeking information, especially in an unfamiliar field. The information is scattered
everywhere, whether in online databases, the internet, magazines or books. On the other hand,
sharing the works with group and discussion online becomes troublesome when multiple
applications are involved. To solve this problem, the Unbeaten App is invented. The Unbeaten
App is a tool designed for students, lecturers, teachers, and common user to search for
information, schedule their plans and activities for the day, communicate with colleagues,
classmates and lecturers, and also for fast information and data searching across multiple
platforms and sources (i.e., prime online newspapers, educational databases, websites, business
databases, etc.). It also allows the users to communicate with each other or form groups and
classify each group according to its importance which will allow seamless communication
between peers. The app will also allow for fast and accurate information searching. The
Unbeaten App aims to give easy access and also a secure method of researching while also
striving to help the user to schedule to keep in check of their daily activities. The app also aims
to improve information sharing and also communication between users in one app instead of
relying on third party apps while also helping to bring people together. In terms of
commercialisation, the app is specifically targeted towards students, educators, and businesses
alike and while it is so, the app is still usable for common or ordinary people to manage their
schedule or even find accurate information all conveniently from one multifunctional app and
conveniently through their smartphones.

The right to have shelter is a basic need for everyone as it plays momentous role towards the
country‟s economy and the social well-being of people. In order to fulfil the goal, the
government had come out with an initiative by introducing the low-cost housing program for the
poor, specifically the poor urban households as stated in the Eleventh Malaysian Plan (2016-
2020). However based on the preliminary survey done, it was found that 42.9% of the
community who can be categorized as poor urban households have less knowledge on how to get
the information towards the low-cost house program introduced and end up they themselves
concluded that it is difficult to get the house. As the information can be obtained through the
finger tips technology devices, but for these community it can be the major constraint for them.
Based on the literature, the poor urban households are comprised of those with low education
and have lack of skills in technology to access the information. This situation creates a difficulty
for them to have the information and to apply it and at the same time losing the opportunity to
get the affordable houses that have been specifically allocated for them with a minimal
requirements of the housing scheme program. This innovation therefore would like to forward
the Housing Information Database System (H.I.D.S), that could assist the authority agencies
specifically National Housing Department (JPN) to disseminate information in a way of
acquiring details of qualified population and extensively inform about housing scheme provided
by the government through postal system monthly. The system will help JPN to disseminate the
information easily as through this system it contains the information of poor urban households
who are non IT savvy to get the information easily. Currently, JPN do not have any database that
keeps information about poor urban households who do not have house. This innovation will
seek chances of engagement with several private and public agencies to collaborate mainly aim
to increase the level of awareness of the poor urban households towards the significance
information that could enhance their quality of life.

Many students taking subject related to Industrial relations (IR) faced difficulties in
understanding the subject. Knowing the difficulties, the ideas of mind-games, inspired by
Monoply games is designed to facilitate the teaching and learning in class. This innovation
combined two learning methods comprising of games and technology usage (QR Code). The
ideas of this project helps the students to better understand the subjects which is based on the
concept of „fun learning‟. It also exposed the students to improve their understanding and
learning of this subjects in more simple and effective way. The objective of this project is to
introduce the teaching and learning through more creative learning methods by using mind-
games and QR Code. Other than that, this game also can help students for easy memorising the
contents of the subjects when doing their revision in more fun way. Furthermore, this game
capable to improve their understanding on the labor Acts in Malaysia in more simple way. As we
all know, there are limited references and learning materials related to industrial relations subject
in the market. This is because market only produced tradional books rather than other creative
learning materials. This innovation which use the element of creative and fun learning is useful
for the students and the users to faciliate their learning of this subject. This product of innovation
is useful to the students who taking subjects of Industrial Relations and Human Resource,
lecturers teaching the subjects and new practitioners of industrial relations system and human

Truancy has become a universal unresolved educational problem in most educational institutions.
Attendance is considered compulsory as the students have the minimum requirement of
attendance that need to be fulfilled. Some studies that have been conducted by previous scholars
show that students‟ behavior is the main contributor for attendance problem. This problem had
affected the students‟ academic performance. Many have mentioned that students who have
attended more classes would be able to obtain better academic results. In UiTM for instance, the
students who attended classes are still recorded manually which requires the lecturers to print out
the attendance list for every month. Till today, only manual system used to record the students‟
attendance been implemented in UiTM. It has been proved that the latest technology such as the
smart application is required in the education field to increase the efficiency in recording the
students‟ attendance. Without the latest technology, it is hard for the lecturers who have a big
number of students to monitor their students' attendance efficiently. Therefore, this innovation
namely iNBA Apps being created to increase the efficiency of the students‟ attendance record and
indirectly it can promote paperless attendance system. The lecturers do not have to bring the
attendance paper as the QR code will appear on the projector screen. Thus, the lecturers could
identify which students are present and absent for their classes based on the color for each
students‟ names appeared either red or green. Meanwhile, this application can help the students
to identify their current credit hours by referring to the points collected. After they scan the QR
code, the points will be collected based on the number of credit hours in that particular class. The
points collected will represent the credit hours that need to be achieved throughout the semester.
In short, the points accumulated in the students‟ account will determine whether they can enter

Although, in the modern world, the growing intensity of knowledge and data and having easy
access to the data can cause people to bombardment that requires an accurate selection of helpful
information (Güler, 2008). Therefore, one of the useful and effective materials which can solve
the problem is infographics. An infographic is made from graphic information, representation of
visual graphic information, knowledge or data words, which aimed to show complicated
information fast and clearly (Newsom & Haynes, 2004; Heer et al., 2010). Infographics can be
adopted as a promising learning tool in instruction. Therefore, in order to improve students
understanding particularly Principles of Ecology (EVA 410) students on biogeochemical topic,
our group has establish one infographic kit known as “EVA cool kit” which can help students to
understand biogechemical cycle in a more meaningful way. In addition, in order to examine the
usage and the need of this kit, one survey study has been conducted among Principles of Ecology
(EVA 410) students and the findings revealed that the need and usage of the manual was at
strong and good level. This manual also had won Diamond award and Best Presentation during
Students Invention & Innovation Competition 2019 that held at UiTM Seremban 3 by the
Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies. Therefore, for ITEC 2019, new
development has been made to current product and we hope that this manual could bring some
advantages such as (1) enhance interpretation of information, (2) concepts and idea, (3)
improving the ability to think about complex information, and (4) enhancing information recall
and retention.

Faculty of Administrative Science & Policy Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam,Selangor
With reference to the multiple proofs from past studies that legal foreign workers are vulnerable,
this paper aims to analyze the repression of legal foreign workers by employers. This is also
validated by recent statistics that indicate repression among legal foreign workers in Malaysia is
gradually increasing. As cases pertaining to workers experiencing repression continue to happen,
foreign workers are thus shown to be in a vulnerable state. Often times, employers‟ audacity to
repress foreign workers is due them taking leverage off workers‟ sense of belonging. As an effort
to put a stop to this scenario, this paper presents an innovation entitled “Repressor Alert 2.0:
Repression of legal foreign workers by employers” by which two outcomes of Multilingual
Booklet and Supplementary Simplified Info graphic are put forth. This innovation is especially
useful to give foreign workers clearer pictures of repression and its types that may be exercised
by employers. As the name itself suggests, the very uniqueness of this innovation is the use of
multiple languages (which are also the mother tongue of foreign workers in Malaysia) to deliver
the content of the booklet. This would subsequently help to prevent them for being the victims of
repression at workplace, while also upholding their rights as legal workers- this is the impact that
this innovation intends to make. The novelty of this innovation is its potential to arrive at
commercialization, which would be possible with the assistance from Malaysian Immigration
Department, Department of Social Welfare (women foreign workers), and relevant NGOs.

Faculty of Business Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA
This article focuses on higher learning institution‟s students using an educational board game as
one of the tools suggested in cultivating the positive teaching and learning experience of political
science‟s students while equipping them with necessary human skills. This is because after the
students managed to identify the subject matter of the game, a lecture of the issues facing the
subject matter will be conducted. The use of educational board games in learning and assessment
is expected to increase over the next several years. Engaging generation Z students using
„reality‟ teaching and learning methods can be a challenging task. Lack of focus and decrease in
interest to learn using traditional ways somehow affect the overall performance of the students.
True enough, students are engaging well and enjoying so much in their virtual world. But
overdependent of the technology may resulted with lose of their interaction capabilities, social
skills and soft skills needed as a student and normal human being in this real-world. The concept
of learning through play is used as a very efficient way to be used during human development,
helping to the mental and physical growth of the person. As well it helps to reaffirm aspects such
as personality and the ability to solve problems. Within the classroom, the use of play allows
improving creativity and lateral thinking, improves communication and eases the teaching
process. In this case, learning to play becomes an open, engaging experience where every
participant is equal to the other in terms of hierarchy, facilitating the knowledge transfer process.
Through games, users can undertake different roles, understanding different points of view that
they would not normally experience. Hence, it is hoped that the overview of this study provides a
clear understanding about the challenge of the game should be able to keep up with the learners
growing abilities and learning to endorse continued in effective learning environments.

The Non-formal Science Learning (NFSL) institutions (e.g.: leading agencies like the National
Science Centre and National Planetarium) plays a significant role in helping the government for
the implementation of the National Policy of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), among
others are nurturing the young talents and creating public Awareness towards STI that‟s essential
in the race of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0). Empirical studies show that visits to the NFSL
institutions significantly increase people‟s understanding, awareness, interest, curiosity and
confident about STI. However, the implementation of such STI policies through public NFSL
institution facing great challenges with visitor‟s complaints related to service experience,
declining visitation and low participation in National STI programs and policies. Fewer than
2.6% of Malaysians visit public NFSL institutions each year with less than 2% community
involvement in government STI awareness programs and policies as stated in the latest STI
Malaysia Public Awareness report held once every five years by Malaysia‟s Science and
Technology Centre (MASTIC). With negative Return of Investment (ROI), this apps helps the
NFSL institutions to focus on the visitor‟s centricity – which is about how to screen the visitor‟s
service experience (VSE) during the visitation. This apps will provide some indication about the
VSE level in the premises by giving certain scores based on a few screening items. This later will
potentially help those institutions to reduce visitor‟s complaints, increase public trust, raise the
service effectiveness level and start revenue generation for institutional sustainability and
competitiveness, especially in a public sector.

The reality of road traffic crashes is known as a long standing issue in many countries around the
world and Malaysia is not an exception. This issue is increasing due to lack of strict regulation
from higher authority and there are three main contributing factors which contribute to road
traffic crashes: (1) human factor; (2) road condition; and (3) vehicle condition. In Malaysia, the
number of deaths in road traffic crashes for motorcyclists is the highest compared to the other
types of vehicle. Thus, the aims of this product is to create awareness of road safety among the
motorcyclists and provide a guidelines by giving a pocket note to the motorcyclists once they
completed their motorcycle riding test at the driving school. The uniqueness of this pocket note
which need the motorcyclists to scan QR code thru their mobile phone that will link to this
product. As we live in a sophisticated world and heading towards saving the environment, this
product very convenient and accessible to the motorcyclists to use. Besides, this pocket note also
is in the form of brochures, which suitable for the motorcyclists who is internet illiterate. The

BEST PRACTICE OF CORPORATE AND SHARIAH GOVERNANCE
DISCLOSURES GUIDE

Alam, Selangor
A series of corporate scandals worldwide have created considerable attention to the quality of
disclosures and consequently, every corporate is expected to provide transparency and high level
of disclosures quality. For Islamic Banks (IBs), they have a number of interesting features that
differentiate them from Conventional Banks (CBs). The unique features possessed by IBs
making them be viewed as high level of governance system by stakeholders, and hence IBs have
bigger responsibility and accountability to be disclosed to the stakeholders. As annual reports act
as a communication tool between management and stakeholders, it is expected for management
of IBs to provide good quality of disclosures by specifically disclose the Corporate Governance
(CG) and Shari‟ah Governance (SG) disclosures in their respective annual reports. In
determining the quality of the disclosures, a disclosures index is pertinent and crucial to be
formulated. Hence, researchers aim to develop a comprehensive disclosures index comprising
CG and SG for IBs in Malaysia from a stewardship perspectives. Uniquely, this study
incorporates and combines both CG and SG disclosures, making it as the pioneer study that
combines two types of governance disclosures into a comprehensive index. The Corporate and
Shari‟ah Governance (CSG) disclosures index are formulated using six (6) guidelines/standards
from three main regulatory bodies for IBs namely Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Islamic
Financial Service Board (IFSB) and Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial
Institutions (AAOIFI). In a simple template, the six (6) disclosures are grouped into fourteen (14)
dimensions/themes and each disclosure will highlight the essence of the principle, making it is
easier to be read and understand. This “best practice model” is viewed as an effective guideline
to the IBs‟s governance systems as it complements both CG and SG disclosures which are
applied and crucial to the unique features of IBs.

A phletora of studies has discovered that 75% of information processed by the brain comes from
the visual format (e.g., Tooth, 2013; Davidson, 2014). For instance, according to Krauss (2012),
a picture is worth a thousand words, and pictures can be essential when complex relationships
are difficult to convey with words alone. Therefore, infographics is introduced as a teaching tool
to assist the instructors in the teaching and learning session to facilitate learners particularly in
the higher learning institution. Infographics is a combination of the words “information” and
“graphics”. Based on these reasons, our group has come out with a learning tool for EVA410
students (principles of ecology) to assist them in the learning of “Biomes Types” which this topic
can be consider as quite hard to be understood since it involves a lot of fact and details. Biomes
can be categorized into 17 categories which include: 1) Tundra, 2)Taiga or Boreal Forests,
3)Temperate Deciduous Forests, 4) Temperate Rain Forests, 5)Temperate Woodlands,
6)Temperate Shrublands, 7) Temperate Grasslands 4)Tropical Rain Forests, 9) Tropical Seasonal
Forests and Savannas, 10) Deserts, 11) Wetlands, 12) Freshwaters, 13) Intertidal Areas, 14)
Open Ocean, 15) Benthos, 16) Upwellings , and 17) Hydrothermal Vents. Therefore, we hope
that this note can assist students in understanding those biomes. We categorize the note into 4
sections which include 1) characteristics of biomes, 2) animals,5) plants, and 4) location. In
addition, in order to examine the usage and the need of this note, one survey study has been
conducted among the students and the findings revealed that the need and usage of the manual
was at a strong and good level.

It is almost one year since the government has made separation of solid waste at source to be mandatory when it began 1 September 2015. The implementation is now entering the 3
rd stage started 1 June 2016. Giving advice, notice and explaining the law implication if
they didn‟t separate the waste accordingly are the approaches by the SWCorp to enforce this implementation. In 3
rd stage, compound will be given to the occupant after they have
received advice and notice from the enforcement. Melaka is among the eight states to enforce this implementation. Generally, there are five types of separation (JPSPN, 2015) and specify only three categories (KPKT, 2016) of waste: residual waste, recyclable waste and bulky or garden waste. Some issues have arisen regarding to this waste separation. One of the issue was that SWCorp has received complaint from the public‟s confusion on the type and colour of plastic in separating the waste (Ahmad Suhael Adnan, 2016). Related to this issue, last year SWCorp has stated the separation does not need three different colour of plastic bags but to collect the waste by following the category of waste without any specific colour and the concession will check the waste in the plastic and figure the category especially the recyclable waste (Utusan Online, 2015). The introduction of Waste Separation Tape is the main aim of this paper to educate people to separate their waste. Occupant may use any type or colour of plastics and by using this tape, it will reduce their confusion in separating the waste and simplify the concession in identifying the recyclable waste. It also will save the occupant money to buy different type or colour of plastics. It is simple: just stick the tape onto the plastic. When it comes to collection day, just place them next to the garbage bin.

Teaching and learning in English poses a challenges for most non-native English speakers. Many
studies have been conducted in Asia including Malaysia. Among English language learners in
higher education in Malaysia reported that the majority of the learners who were interviewed felt
very nervous when speaking in English and encountered great difficulty to express themselves in
English. Furthermore, the learners commented on their limited use of English or that it was
confined to certain situations only, such as when presenting or producing written works in
English. Factors which may cause reluctance among them to participate in classroom tasks
involving speaking are cultural factors, linguistic factors, and or psychological or affective
factors Cultural factors refer to the prior learning experiences of learners and the expectations
created by these experiences. Linguistic factors, on the other hand, include difficulties in
transferring from the learner‟s first language (L1) to the sounds, rhythms, and stress patterns of
English, and lack of understanding of common grammatical patterns in English. Even worse,
high unemployment rate among graduates is often attributed to their lack of English proficiency
and communication skills. In view of this, public and private universities should be aware that
this fact does affect the employer in hiring the graduates from our local universities. To
overcome this issue, an application so called “English iSolution” can be created and produced so
as to polish and improve students‟ English proficiency especially in social sciences area. In this
application, there are ample of features that will make teaching and learning in English become
more pleasant and enjoyable. Such as academic videos with bilingual would be included and at
the end of the videos, quizzes and tests will be given to the students. Marks will be given to the
students upon them answering all the questions and it will be recorded as their participation and
attendance in every class subject. This application should be implemented by all public and
private universities in Malaysia in order for us to excel in English proficiency.

(UiTM) Shah Alam, Selangor
There is an increase in mental health problem worldwide. With numbers of mental health
problems increasing every year, mental health is forecasted to be the leading cause of health
problem globally. Hence, massive awareness campaigns have been done to curb this health
problem. Nevertheless, despite the worldwide campaigns that have been done, 50 percent of the
world‟s population affected with mental health problem did not seek for any treatment. It seems
like there is a pulling factor discouraging them to do so. “S.A.D App” adapted the Depression,
Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS21) as one of its main features. The test is widely used by
Malaysia‟s Ministry of Health to run their survey‟s concerning mental health problem in the
country. It is also inspired by a psychologist‟s website – www.ramlimusa.com. “S.A.D App” is
designed to break mental health stigma by encouraging the society to understand their mental
health status with just a click of a button. The instant result from the online test will be the first
step in an attempt to increase mental health awareness and to promote healthy lifestyle, work life
balance and well-being. Besides the test, the users are able to explore special features in the
application such as nature sounds of Malaysia, links to Instagram and youtube, important
numbers to Befrienders and Mentari as well as frequently asked questions in the FAQ section.
“S.A.D. App” was also presented in the Invention, Innovation & Design Exposition 2019
(IIDEX 2019) and was awarded Gold Award under the Postgraduate segment.

I‟M SORRY, I‟M JUST A CHILD: COMPREHENSIVE GUIDELINES IN
DEALING WITH YOUNG OFFENDERS

Marni Hj. Ghazali
Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)
Shah Alam, Selangor
“I‟m Sorry, I‟m Just a Child: Comprehensive Guidelines on How to Deal with Young Offenders”
was designed to provide guidelines on how the criminal system works for young offenders. It is
undeniable that children are the country‟s most valuable asset. Though they are vulnerable,
children remain protected by the law. The same protection however can lead to a serious case of
complexity if children themselves commit a crime. Thus, it is an urgent need to understand the
procedure that children are to be put through once in detainment for criminal investigation or
criminal process. The complexity of cases involving children is due to two reasons that (i)
children are protected by the law, and (ii) the treatment for young offenders differ from the adult.
The guidelines were developed with the intention to assist authorities (such as police and
prosecutors, to name a few) as well as to educate parents, teachers, and the society on how the
criminal justice system works for young offender. The guidelines were developed based on the
extensive review of related literature, conducted for the main author‟s on-going Doctorate
research related to crimes involving minor. The conducted literature review revealed the issue of
crimes involving minor to be critically alarming, as the number of crimes of which the offenders
are children has been increasing gradually. In certain devastating cases, crimes committed by
children can even be as severe as causing the death of their victims. Considering the complexity
of cases involving children as young offenders, the guidelines were then developed to provide a
detailed description of inter-agency procedure, so to offer a complete understanding of how the
justice system works for young children. This is particularly different from the description
provided by existing guidelines, which mostly centres around just one certain jurisdiction. In
providing such description, the guidelines were made sure to be handy, simple, and easy to
understand. The uniqueness of the guidelines is its comprehensiveness in providing a detailed
description, beginning from the process of reporting to the police until the stage at which a case
is brought to the court.

ONFICELIC: INTEGRATION PROCESS VILLAGE FINANCIAL
MONITORING TO INCREASE PUBLIC TRUST
Lestari Dyah Ningtyas
Fadhailul Chorizu
Universitas Airlangga
A village has the right of regional autonomy to manage its area, but in village
development it is necessary to have capital called village funds. One problem that is
often seen in village financial management is the lack of public trust in the village
government. The mechanism of responsibility for village financial management is
aligned with the responsibility for the management of state finances which includes
planning, implementing, administering, reporting, and accountability and village
finances monitoring based on the principle of good governance. In facilitating village
financial management, the central government has created websites and applications
(Siskeudes, Sipades, and SIMDA Desa) for internal monitoring. Transparency,
accountability, and direct participation from the community are the most important
parts in village financial management. However, the application made by the central
government has a weakness, namely ignoring the value of participation in village
financial management. This results in the community not having access to direct
monitoring of village financial management. Knowing this phenomenon, the writer
has an idea by designing a website and application called ONFICELIC (Monitoring
of Integration Process by Public) which integrates data on village financial
management reports in villages throughout Indonesia contained on the website and
application owned by the central government (Siskeudes, Sipades, and SIMDA
Desa). ONFICELIC is equipped with a smart screen that will display village financial
management activities directly through CCTV installation at each village office. That
way the community can monitor village financial management just by entering the
identity number on the resident card. The theory used is related to digital government
and excellent service. The writing method uses qualitative methods with data
collection namely interviews, observation, and study of literature.

The emergence of decentralized concepts, led to the shifting pattern of relations between the
central and local governments, also between local governments in Indonesia. In addition, the
local authority is needed to manage and regulate the potential that has to enrich the community
through the improvement of public service, empowerment and engagement of the community,
and increase the competitiveness in the midst of world development. Local governments
compete to make innovations to accelerate development, especially in Jakarta and Surabaya as
their status as metropolitan cities, with the largest population in Indonesia. In addition to large
cities, so that it has a great carrying capacity in economic, political, social, and human resources
aspects. This innovation is covered in one key concept called smart city. In doing so, the author
will discuss more about the alternative form of cooperation pattern of Jakarta and Surabaya that
label themselves as smart city. The analysis of both the advantages and disadvantages of policy
issues related to environmental issues in Jakarta can be assisted by Surabaya who have a superior
program related to environmental issues. Besides, the traffic jam issues in Surabaya can be
assisted by Jakarta which has an ideal transportation system. This relationship is very important
to integrate both the strength and weaknesses of those cities, they can share of experience,
benefits, and also sharing of burdens for instance. Looking at the phenomenon, the author offers
an idea by creating a model of cooperation between Surabaya and Jakarta through online based
application named Jakabaya. It will facilitate the interaction of both local governments of
Surabaya and Jakarta in discussing smart city issues. It will contain discussion pages, as well as
pages to share current issues in real-time, and there are some materials related to grand design
smart city in Surabaya and Jakarta.

Concept used for the basic of construction technology for the next few years is the sustainability
of construction components. There are many newly-innovated creations of construction materials
available in today‟s market that will be used widely in the future. From the research made by our
innovation project team, this project is created and named as Eco-Lightweight Anti-termite
Concrete and is abbreviated as ELITE. Our product is one of the construction materials that is
made with specific ratio of mixture which consist of recycle papers, cement, fine aggregate,
coarse aggregate, anti-termite substance and water. ELITE‟s density is between 560 – 1840
kg/m³ depending on its aggregate while common concrete has the density between 1920 – 2240
kg/m³. Nevertheless, the compressive strength and durability of lightweight concrete is slightly
different compared to common concrete. The benefits of using our product are least usage of
steel structure, small foundation, better fire resistance and can being as insulator. In fact, ELITE
can save our construction cost, light and to possess same endurance. Light concrete are produced
from light aggregate because its made with pulp paper. The high of value insulation are given by
the pulp papers that are trapped in aggregate substances. On the contrary, it is very useful
because the structures that are support the load can be built from the aggregate substances. With
this product, it can also prevent the presence and attacks from termites that can damage house
structures especially houses that are made from wood. Other than avoiding damaged homes,
ELITE can economize pricey maintenance cost for homes that were damaged by termites. With
that, ELITE is the best construction technology in the future because it has high marketing
potential. This product not only can protect homes from termites but it‟s also eco-friendly.

Unstable weather conditions could be a burden in drying clothes especially when it‟s raining.
This could be hard for Malaysians to dry up their clothes predominantly during monsoon
seasons. In fact, Malaysia has two seasons which are sunny and rainy season and some of them
may be extreme ones. This could be a problem to individuals to dry their clothes outdoors due to
the unlikely weather condition especially for those who are busy working. Sometimes, people
also often forget to bring in their clothing during rainy days. For working individuals, this would
be a matter to look upon as they lack other time to manage their daily chores and routine. As a
solution, a hanger system is attached to Arduino UNO set programs and codes are programmed
to conduct this system properly. In addition, this E-CLINE uses a servo motor in order for the
clothes-line to move clothes to the sheltered area. Besides that, the advantages of this product
are, it uses clean energy source via solar panels that is implemented to the E-CLINE. A fan is
added as a dryer that won‟t damage the clothes‟ fabric unlike an ordinary clothes dryer that uses
heat. Furthermore, an Ultra Violet-C lamp at the bottom of the roof of the clothes line to kill
microorganisms since it is germicidal and could lead to more hygienic clothes.

The waste product is making a messy distraction in one‟s life and expected to rise until 30,000
tonnes of waste is produced by the year 2020. Usually, people would throw waste and rubbish by
opening the dustbin cover and then close the cover back. It takes time and in fact most of our
time are wasted by doing it. Furthermore, our environment nowadays are becoming polluted by
the waste and rubbish that are not well organised. Generally, dustbins in Malaysia are not fully
covered and it can cause contamination and bad smell. With our innovative invention called
HYBIN, the problems discussed can be solved effectively. In this research, there are several
additional parts that we had installed to the dustbin to provide multiple function for the users and
enhance the function of an ordinary wastebin. The main purpose of HYBIN is to manage the
waste efficiently by using light emitting diode (LED), sensors and ease the users in using the
product effectively. A buzzer is attached to it to help the users sense the level of the waste and
the location for the disabled person. As a conclusion, the HYBIN can access a perfect impact in
our daily life specifically our environment.

Didalam sesebuah pendawaian,
terdapat banyak penyambungan soket, samada pendawaian litar gelang mahupun
jejari contohnya seperti di makmal komputer, bengkel dan lain-lain lagi. Sekiranya
berlaku kerosakan pada salah satu soket, ia akan menyukarkan pengguna atau
juruteknik mencari kerosakan tanpa menutup bekalan (MCB). Sebelum terhasilnya

USE OF MATHEMATICAL SOFTWARE: I-MATHZ FOR TEACHING
AND LEARNING AMONG PRIMARY STUDENTS
Goh Kok Ming
SJK (C) Chi Sheng (2)
The Computer Algebra Systems (CAS) such as Mathematica, Maple, MuPAD, MathCAD have
potential to facilitate an active approach to learning, to allow students to become involved in
discovery and to consolidate their own knowledge, thus developing conceptual and geometrical
understanding and a deeper approach to learning. Emergence of such mathematical tools and its
ability to deal with most of the undergraduate mathematics cannot be ignored by mathematics
educators. We believe that mathematics teaching can be made much more interesting, inventive
and exploratory using the i-Mathz. The i-Mathz is mathematical software that uses GeoGebra
freeware with an interface that makes it extremely easy to explore, visualise, and solve
mathematical problems. It brings technology into mathematics education and brings the benefits
of mathematical software development to the classroom and into the hands of teachers and
students. With i-Mathz, students are not forced to choose between mathematical power and
usability, making it the ideal tool for education. The respondents were chosen based on the
document analysis and the diagnostic test. The respondents were 4 boys and one girl. The
Pretest, Post test, observation and 3 topical exercises were the instruments used to collect data.
The data collected was presented in the form of table, graph and percentage. The results showed
that the application of i-Mathz was success in assisting the respondents to learn mathematics
concepts. The recommendation for further research is to integrate the Android software with the
i-Mathz.

Fish keeping is a popular fad; almost people from all the age groups like to keep fish in their
home, offices etc for decoration purpose or as a hobby. Fish keeping is itself an industry which
comes in agriculture. Fish keeping is not an easy job; we always need an aquarium or a pond for
that. Freshwater is the most popular hobby of keeping fish because it is easy to handle with
freshwater fish and aquariums. It has always been a headache to take care of the fish and
aquariums. We must change the water after some time; we have to feed the fish on time, we have
to maintain the temperature and turbidity level of the water and always have to keep an eye on
fish and aquarium. All these steps are done manually. The project, FISH.ly has been designed by
keeping in mind, the problem of those who cannot take care of their aquarium every day. It does
the feeding itself every day, keeps the temperature of the aquarium under control, and keeps the
turbidity level under control. This system is composed of smart sensor module which consists of
water sensor, temperature sensor, humidity sensor, light dependent resistor and pH sensor. In
order to monitor the water condition, we collect the data from smart sensor module. The Wi-Fi
module attached to it sends the report or we can monitor the current situation of the aquarium
like temperature level, turbidity level, feeding etc via an app on your cell phone. design and
construct an automatic aquaculture pond for those who cannot take care and keep an eye on their
fish and aquaculture pond daily and minimize the manual factors as much as possible.

Our main idea was generated when we found our parents driving for long hours is tired. Researches
online show that falling asleep is one of the reasons for fatal accident that involves lorry. Lorry drivers
fall asleep easily due to long duration of driving. In addition, accidents involving trucks and lorries are
increasing annually. We thought of a tool that can help reducing the number of fatal accidents that
happens by preventing the drivers from falling asleep. By introducing LOSS, we aim to keep the lorry
drivers awake, which reduce the amount of accidents caused by the drowsiness of lorry drivers, and
ensure the lorry stays in its lane. This system wakes the driver up when he or she accidentally falls asleep
while driving and prevents the lorry from crashing into the vehicle in front of it. LOSS gets the vehicle back to its lane when it is about to veer out from its lane. LOSS is not only applicable for lorry drivers; it
can also be applied in other vehicles. Transportation company or commercial vehicle such as lorry, truck,
bus and car can save money.

Malaysia‟s population has increased tremendously over the half few decades and
according to the vehicles registration data released by the Malaysia Automotive
Association (MAA), the total number of vehicles on our road was already standing at
28,181,303 units by June 30 2017. As the number of vehicles increases, the rate of road
accidents escalates simultaneously and more than 500 pedestrian fatalities are reported
each year in our country. Therefore, it is a very common issue nowadays that the safety
of pedestrian is not ensured when crossing a busy road especially for the elderlies and
disabled who move at a slower pace. To overcome this concerning situation, we gladly
introduce the Road Safety Barrier System (RSBS) which will lower the death toll and
casualties of the pedestrian effectively! This project provides mechanical protection to
the pedestrians while crossing the road .This system can be controlled at the side of the
road. When it is active, red light would alert drivers to stop their vehicle. When the
pedestrian light turns green, an artificial barrier will rise at the side of the pedestrian
crossing facing the vehicles to a certain height which separates the vehicles lane with the
walking path. After the barrier is fully deployed, the pedestrians can cross the road safely.
So, when a careless or negligent driver decides to ignore the traffic light or when the
vehicles are unable to stop in time due to high moving velocity, the safety of the
pedestrians will still be secured as the impact of the collision will be absorbed by the
barrier instead of crashing directly into their vulnerable body. As a result, the pedestrians
experiencing the accident are less likely to suffer from fatal injuries and meet their
demise. In short, the RSBS project reduces the risk of crossing a road with busy traffic by
providing an additional safety feature that intercepts the motion of accident causing
vehicles.

Nowadays, we often heard on the news about children being left in a car unintended. Most of it
brings fatal effect which leads them towards unwanted consequences. Many children have died
after being left in a car and it is because of negligence and forgetfulness of their parents. This
happened because of the Heat stroke before death happened. Heatstroke is a condition caused by
your body overheating, usually as a result of prolonged exposure to or physical exertion in high
temperatures (Tsuzuki-Hayakawa K, Tochihara Y). The, heatstroke, can occur if your body
temperature rises to 104°F (40°C) or higher. Heatstroke can quickly damage your brain, heart,
kidneys and muscles. The damage worsens the longer period of time delayed, increasing your
risk of serious complications or death (Bouchama, and Knochel, 2002). This is an example of a
situation where a parent negligence and forgetfulness happened, a parent brought a kid out for a
household shopping, and the kid fell into a sleep in the car, the busy parent rushed out of the car
and locked the car, as a result, caused a great misfortune, the kid suffocated and died in the
extremely hot car. Even though the parent seem not guilty, but they still had to take legal
responsibilities for the act that he or she caused. In most cases, those parents not only lost their
kids, but also ruined their families. We don‟t want this kind of situation happen to us. It is a need
to have an alarm system that‟s remind the driver before he or she lock the car. This kind of
invention never been made before and never been seen in the market yet.

The Smart One-Way Traffic Control (SOWYTic) is one of the best devices in construction zone
for traffic flow. This device can replace flaggers during the lane closures on the event of a road
construction. SOWYTic can be best utilized in traffic flow control for long term or short-term
lane closures on construction sites, to control two-way traffic in a single lane. By implementation
this new technologies in traffic flow of road construction its can eliminate the usage of
conventional flagmen‟s and also cost efficient. The intelligent traffic light system is designed to
solve problems which contribute towards hazards at road construction site and to be in line with
the road safety regulation which is taken into granted by the contractors. Moreover. its also
increase safety for the road users. This system is applicable for public and privately funded road
construction projects that require overnight or 24-hour traffic control as well as in different weather conditions.
