Curriculum for Study Abroad Chinese Studies Major (with or without Teaching Certification) Pre-requisite CHIN 202. Students should complete 12-15 credits of approved Chinese language courses
and 0-3 credits of Chinese culture (literature, history, culture, art history, philosophy, or political
science) during the semester in CIEE Shanghai, China. Students should confirm with the Department of
Modern Languages that the courses they select are approved for the Chinese major.
Chinese Business Major Pre-requisite CHIN 202. Students should complete 12-15 credits of approved Chinese language courses
and 3-6 credits of Chinese business or economic courses during the semester in CIEE Shanghai, China.

approved for the Chinese major.
French Major (with or without Teaching Certification) Pre-requisite FREN 206. Students should complete 12-18 credits of approved French courses during
the semester in Paris, France. Students must take at least one course in French language, and should
select the rest from among courses in literature, history, culture, art history, philosophy, or political
science. These courses should be directly related to the target culture. Students should confirm with the
Department of Modern Languages that the courses they select are approved for the French major.
German Major (with or without Teaching Certification) Pre-requisite GERM 206. Students should complete 12-18 credits of approved German courses during
the semester in Munich, Germany. Students must take at least one course in German language, and
should select the rest from among courses in literature, history, culture, art history, philosophy, or
political science. These courses should be directly related to the target culture. Students should confirm
with the Department of Modern Languages that the courses they select are approved for the German
major.
Spanish Major (with or without Teaching Certification) Pre-requisite SPAN 206. Students should complete 12-18 credits of approved Spanish courses during
the semester at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile or the Universidad de Granada,
Spain. Students must take at least one course in Spanish language and one Spanish literature course
(Latin American or Peninsular), and should select the rest from among courses in literature, history,
culture, art history, philosophy, or political science. These courses should be directly related to the
target culture. Students should confirm with the Department of Modern Languages that the courses
selected are approved for Spanish major.
Spanish Business Major Pre-requisite SPAN 206. Students should complete 12-18 credits of approved Spanish courses during
the semester at the Pontíficia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso, Chile or the Universidad de Granada,
Spain: two courses in business or economics, one Spanish language course, and select the additional

3.0 GPA is required for admission to Teacher Education Program and Professional Semester. **EDSP 207, EDUC 203, TEP 210 must be taken concurrently in the sophomore year. **EDSP 307, EDUC 331, TEP 310 Spanish Education students are advised to take the junior block during the fall of their senior year. **LANG 320, LANG 493 must be taken in the fall semester of the senior year. **EDUC 420, TEP 435, LANG 407, PSYC 311 must be taken concurrently in the spring semester of the senior year. Students may not take additional classes in the spring semester of the senior year.
