Types of Hazards to Health: Chemical

The chemical hazards to your health can enter your body in the following ways: inhalation, ingestion, absorption, and through cuts or wounds in your skin. Chemicals show up in the following forms: Solid (dry paint with lead), Powder (bags of cement, asbestos), Liquid (ammonia, chlorine, sulfur), Vapors (pesticides or cleaning products), Gases (smoke, aerosol, carbon monoxide).It is very important to wear protective equipment while using chemicals. Make sure you have gloves and a protective mask for breathing. Ask your employer for information about chemicals at your workplace (Safety Data Sheets - SDSs, formerly called MSDS).

The biological hazards are living organisms that can wound or sicken you at work.

The contact with organisms can happen through: exposure to animals or animal waste, insects or rats that can transmit diseases, contact with sick people, needles and syringes that can transmit serious diseases, and plants that can alter your immune system.
