INTRODUCTION

The EG Quartz Claims cover the upper left fork headwaters of EurekaCreek the lower reaches of which has been a significant placer goldproducer since the turn of the century. Current reconnaissancegeochemistry and prospecting have been undertaken to follow up onprevious geochemical results and to examine the areas that werethought to have potential for gold mineralization. Very stronglyanomalous gold in silt samples were collected from several of thestreams draining Eureka Dome in 1993.

The EG 1 — 26 claims cover the projected trend of geochemicalanomalies into the drainage of Eureka Creek from Childs Gulch.Eureka Creek is a tributary of Indian River and the headwaters inthe Eureka Dome area are moderate to steep hillsides with fewbedrock exposures, and permafrost is locally prevassive especiallyon north and west facing slopes.

LOCATION AND ACCESS

The claims are located about 100km by road southeast of DawsonCity, Yukon. This road is gravel beyond the Hunker Creek turnoffand deteriorates south of Granville from which point there isgovernment road maintenance. Driving time from Dawson is about3 hours depending on road conditions. A property location mapincluded ( Figure 1 ).

TOPOGRAPHYAND VEGETATION

The property is on the north flanks of Eurekafeet and the areas of interest lie betweenvalley slopes vary fromto steep. Eureka Creekof Yukon River.

Placer gold occurs in the gravels on the valley floors which areup to 8 feet thick and are overlain typically by an average of 8-10 feet of frozen black mud. Usually the mud layer is covered witha thick insulating moss blanket with dense to open spruce forestand willow underbrush. On the lower slopes the black mud thinsrapidly and interfingers with talus and slide debris on the slopes.Moss is less and spruce vegetation gives way to poplar—willow—birchon dryer less frozen parts of the mid and upper slopes.
