The actor/ actress speak one to another, and there will be Illocutionary Act. And it is one reason why the writer takes a film as the data of her analysis.

“Illocutionary Act (or simply the illocution) carried out by a speaker making an utterance is the act viewed in terms of the utterance’s significance within a conventional system of social interaction.” (Hurford, 1983:244).

In this research, the writer used library research to collect

certain data, information and

theory related to the topic of this writing, the writer also read

the script of “50 First Dates”, some

relevant books and some guiding books that closely related to the topic of this

writing.

the population of this research is taken from the dialogues in the movie “50 First

Dates” that using for this

thesis.

The writer will choose some dialogues as a sample that

representative for the population. And then this

sample will analyze using descriptive

method.
