Name of assignment or project: Shahpur kandi dam project, Punjab , IndiaLocation: Pathankot, Punjab, IndiaClient: Soma Enterprise LimitedMain project features: Shahpurkandi Dam Project has been declared as ‘National Project’ by Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India during February 2008. It comprises of 55.5 high concrete Dam, 7.70 Km long Hydel Channel, 2 nos. Head Regulators 2 no. Power Houses of total 206 MW capacity. The project is on River Ravi.

Position held: Sr. Structural EngineerMajor Activities performed: Structural design of Dam overflow and non over flow blocks. Finally vetted by IIT Mumbai. Construction of dam is in progress. Also involved in tender stage design of power house complex. Few snap shots of FE models of project:

Name of assignment or project: Shongtong Karchham Hydro Electric Project( 450 MW)Location: Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, IndiaClient: Patel Engineering Limited, MumbaiMain project features: Shongtong Karchham Hydro Electric Project, a run-of-river scheme, on the river Satluj in Distt. Kinnaur of HP, envisages construction of 102.50 m long diversion barrage, near village Powari, to divert 406 cumecs discharge to four sedimentation chambers, each 300 m long. Water from sedimentation chambers is further carried through water conductor system comprising 8020 m long 10.00 m diameter circular HRT, terminating in 39.50 m diameter surge shaft and three 5.10 m diameter steel lined (each 211.00 m long) pressure shafts, to feed three vertical axis Francis Turbines, housed in an underground powerhouse, located on the left bank of the river Satluj near village Ralli, to generate 450 MW of power. Project is under construction.

Name of assignment or project: Top Down Construction in NH-54 at Jatinga,AssamLocation: Stretch on National Highway NH-54 near Jatinga AssamClient: Hindustan Construction Company, MumbaiMain project features: National Highway no. 54 is to cross a small hillock near Jatinga in Assam. The level of the road is to be about 40m below the highest level of thehillock, which slopes down gently on the two sides along the road alignment. Another road,perpendicular to NH-54, passes over the top of this hillock. The NH-54 road stretch which isto cross this hillock is about 300m long.

Project commissioned in 2015.

Name of assignment or project: Srinagar Hydro Electric ProjectYear: July 2008 – Feb 2010Location: Uttranchal, IndiaClient: GVKMain project features: Installed Capacity - 330 MW; Diversion structure - 95m high Concrete Gravity Dam; Headrace Tunnel - 2 nos., 1.01 km & 1.14 km long, 9 m dia, Circular and Surface Powerhouse.

Position held: Sr. Engineer- StructuresMajor Activities performed: Involved in Structure analysis, design & detailing of Power channel, Cross drainage works, Bridges, Forebay Tank, Forebay Intake, bypass channel structures.

Type of structure analysed and design : 2 to 20m high cantilever retaining walls with/without counterforts, cross drainage box culverts, column-beam-slab frame structure, isolated/raft foundations for power channel,CD works, Forebay tank, forebay intake and bypass channel structurtes, RCC/PSC girder super structure(For 2 lane bridges), Raft/Pile for substructure of bridges(4 nos).

Name of assignment or project: Rohtang Road TunnelYear: 2007-2008Location: Himachal Pradesh, IndiaClient: BROMain project features: The Rohtang Tunnel project envisages the construction of a 8.8 km long highway tunnel in high Himalayan ranges near Manali (HP) to by pass the Rohtang pass on Manali – Leh Road. The south portal of the tunnel is located at an altitude of 3055m (amsl) about 25 km north of Manali and the north portal is located across Rohtang pass on the left bank of the river Chandra at an altitude of 3080m (amsl) at 78.7 km away from Manali. The tunnel work comprise all civil, mechanical and electrical works in 8.8 km long bore two lane bi-directional highway tunnel with the finished width of 10m at the tunnel walk ways levelPosition held: Engineer- StructuresMajor Activities performed: Was involved in Structure analysis, design & detailing of portal structures comprising of office cum ventilation building and avalanche protection structure.
