CAD Modelling for the RK-100 Positioning System
Ernest Yim, Syed Haider
Introduction RK-100
• “MRI-compatible image-guided focused ultrasound system ”• consists of:
• a computer-controlled high-precision three-axis• a high-power focused ultrasound transducer
• “enables delivery of focused ultrasound energy to precise locations in soft tissue”
Organizing and Conventions
• make the system reproducible• organizing into parts and assemblies (part no, description)• finding the specifics (material, manufacturer, manufacturer’s no)• templates for FUS parts and assemblies
Modelling and Mating
• Solidworks• most of the parts were for the London system, so…
• missing parts • some parts started off as two, but are now one• some started as one, but are now two• parts needed to be updated to current design (holes, dimensions, etc)
• parts needed to be mated correctly• 15 assemblies, 120 different parts (including fasteners)• fasteners needed to be added (all 416 of them)
Drawings
• new templates (linked properties)• what dimensions to add and how to add them• 63 drawings
Summary
• design and manufacturing process• Solidworks ... working with a slow computer• different versions of Solidworks
• side project• power meter calibration
• guide available in fusdisk
Work computer…What it should look like…
