1. Introduction

About this guide This document is a course guide for students of the Web version of IMDG Code e-learning, covering:

• Course design and structure • Course notification • Logging on • How to use the system • Course overview • How to start and run the course • Testing your understanding • Progress • Review completed elements • Course certificate • Accessing the IMDG Code • General service and support

Please note: the figures used in this guide are for illustration purposes and may not be an exact replica.

Course Administration There are two types of course administration

i) Self administered courses Self administered courses are managed entirely by you "the student". You will manage and control your own course such as changing passwords and organising retakes. Should you need assistance please contact the course authors at [email protected]

i) Courses controlled by the Administrator Companies purchasing blocks of courses can administer their own courses via the Course Administrator. The Course Administrator features are:

• Setup, configure and activate their own students' courses • Set individual target completion dates within the overall three months course duration • Set individual target pass marks • Monitor student progress • Be first point of contact and support • Organise retakes and new training • Top-up course activations as needed

2. About your course

Duration You have three months to complete any course which is measured from when you first click the Start button. However, the course is self-paced and can be completed in any number of sessions within those three months. If purchased, you may access the IMDG Code for the three month course duration, after which it automatically shuts down.

Structure and contents The course comprises a number of Modules that correspond to a chapter in the IMDG Code, and each module is further broken down into Elements. An element comprises a number of pages that is followed with a compulsory test.

The course elements are presented in sequence. You are not allowed to advance to the next element until you have completed the current element including the compulsory test.

You may review previously completed elements via the Course Navigation drop down list. When returning to the course you will be automatically positioned at the start of the next uncompleted element.

Testing your understanding At the end of each element you are required to take a test by answering a number of questions. The questions are "open book" in that you can refer to the IMDG Code (books or online) before submitting your answer. During the test you can review (repeatedly) any part of the element and return to the current question to submit your answer.

Course certificate When you complete the course your Course Certificate will be prepared. It will state:

• the overall score for the entire course • the score for each element

You will be able to save your Course Certificate as a pdf and print a copy. There are two certificate formats - Standard and Verified.

Requirements A PDF reader and Adobe Flash Player 8 or upwards must be installed on your computer.
