IMI, Delhi off ers a variety of programs to mentor students who come from diff erent walks of life. On one hand, the two-year PGDM program is aimed at shaping the mixed bunch of fresh college graduates and experienced students; on the other hand, its executive program is aimed at giving extensive one-year training to highly experienced candidates from the industry.

IMI is nestled in the Qutab Instituational area and is surrounded by picturesque and serene green belt region in South Delhi. Th e whole area is verdant and refreshing, creating an ideal atmosphere conducive for holistic learning and development. Th e amphitheatre is the focal point of the sprawling campus, where many events are conducted for students. Th e fully air-conditioned campus is wi-fi enabled, with a well-stocked library and a plethora of rooms, equipped with state of the art equipment like projectors and sound systems.

Th e program is fully residential, thus enabling frequent interaction between students of all programmes. Th ere are multiple hostels for students, including exclusive hostels for the Executive PGDM students. Th ere is a spacious cafeteria, which also doubles up as a place where diff erent people meet together for recreational purposes.

The FAIR Model: Foundation, Application, Integration, ReinforcementIMI follows the FAIR model of teaching and learning. Th e model integrates the four phases of student development and is designed to incorporate the fundamental concepts in the initial phase followed by application and subsequent integration with real -life business situations. A judicious blend of case-studies, role plays, team activities and fi eld assignments in addition to self-study is used by the Institute to bring out the best in its students both inside and outside the classroom setting. Summer internships at the end of the fi rst year form an integral part of the curriculum.

Short-listing: Students are shortlisted based on their performance in the Common Aptitude Test(CAT). Th e short-listing is done to ensure that IMI students have the basic quantitative, analytical and verbal skills required for the course in management.

Written Ability Test: In the written round, students are required to write an essay. Th rough this, the students’ ability to express themselves in a logical manner is assessed.

Psychometric Test: IMI was the fi rst Indian B-School to introduce this kind of a test as part of its selection process in 2011. It is used to assess the internal make-up of the candidate.

Personal Interview & Extempore: Th e last phase of the process consists of the personal interview round where the students are judged based on their knowledge of current aff airs, oral communication, domain knowledge of their graduation and work experience (if any). Th is is an extensive session where the panel comprises of a few members of the faculty, corporate houses and alumni.

- Case based teaching: Case studies sourced from Harvard Business School Publishing Corporation are an integral part of the classroom pedagogy. Th e students learn the application of theoretical concepts in practical scenarios.

My experience at IMI can be compared with a particle’s in a Large Hadron Collider (LHC) which is the world’s largest and most powerful particle collider allowing physicists to test the predictions of diff erent theories of particle physics, to prove or disprove theories. Data from collisions is produced at an unprecedented volume and velocity and analysed by a grid-based computer network infrastructure. In IMI’s case, I was bombarded with theories from management thinkers , case-studies, perspectives from fellow students and experiences from faculty which I was able to synthesize and test them to make up my mind on. It reinforced my love for marketing as a discipline and gave me a excellence start to my career when I converted my summer internship into a PPO with Ranbaxy.
