LECTURAS DE HOY Primera lectura — Elevaré los árboles pequeños (Ezequiel 17:22-24). Salmo — ¡Qué bueno es darte gracias, Señor! (Salmo 92 [91]). Segunda lectura — En el destierro o en la patria, nos es-forzamos por agradar al Señor (2 Corintios 5:6-10). Evangelio — El hombre siembra su campo, y sin que él sepa cómo, la semilla germina y crece (Marcos 4:26-34).
TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — I have lifted high the lowly tree (Ezekiel 17:22-24). Psalm — Lord, it is good to give thanks to you (Psalm 92). Second Reading — Whether we are at home or away, we aspire to please the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-10). Gospel — It is the smallest of all seeds, and becomes the larg-est of plants (Mark 4:26-34)
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Our gospel has two parables: The Seed growing by itself and the Mustard Seed. These parables point to what the Kingdom of God is becoming. In other words, how God’s kingdom will grow. I believe that Jesus message is clear: The Kingdom of God even if it requires our collaboration is first and foremost, a grace and a gift com-ing from God. It is not primarily a product of human effort. We must be aware that the kingdom of God is mysterious, and it is to be found in this world. It is presence, growth and life. A simple hello, or smile brings forth life. Seeds scattered will yield a great harvest. As Christians we realize that tiny seeds grow into a large plant. Words of encouragement are seeds of hope. Saying “I am sorry” is a seed of forgiveness. Saying “I love you” is planting a special seed. As we enter into summertime, we hope to continue to plant seeds of peace, of hope, for all and especially for our youth.

Nuestro evangelio presenta dos parábolas: La Semilla creciendo por sí misma y la Semilla de Mostaza. Estas parábolas apuntan a lo que el Reino de Dios se está convirtiendo. En otras palabras, cómo crecerá el reino de Dios. Creo que el mensaje de Jesús es claro: El Reino de Dios, incluso si requiere nuestra colaboración, es an-te todo, una gracia y un don que viene de Dios. No es principalmente un producto del esfuerzo humano. Debe-mos ser conscientes de que el reino de Dios es misterioso y se encuentra en este mundo. Es presencia, creci-miento y vida. Para crecer en relación, un simple Hola, o sonrisa a todos hace más llevadera la vida. Las semi-llas dispersadas producirán una gran cosecha. Como cristianos nos damos cuenta de que las Pequeñas semillas se convierten en una planta grande, palabras de aliento son semillas de esperanza. Decir lo siento, es una semi-lla del perdón. Diciendo que te amo, es semilla de la planta de ser especial. Entrando en este tiempo de verano, esperamos seguir sembrando semillas de paz, de esperanza, de relación y participación de todos y especial-mente de nuestros jóvenes.
