Immanuel Grace and
Truth
Return to worship is tentatively set for July 19. It will
be a drive in parking lot service, with Pastor Mark
Kinney using a low watt frequency radio signal. More
details and information on Immanuel’s return to wor-
ship plan will be shared once the committee has an
opportunity to meet and set up the guidelines.
From the Pastor
At our June council meeting, we have de-
cided to form a task force to return to in-person
worship, based on Bishop Gerald L Mansholt, rec-
ommendations. Here is a part of his letter to con-
gregational leaders.
“I write to encourage congregations to move
forward cautiously and in a manner that upholds our
Christian vocation to love our neighbor as our-
selves. The virus continues to spread and we know
that places where people gather for extended peri-
ods of time, like worship services, can contribute
mightily to that spread. Out of love and care for
one another I encourage us to continue to listen to public health officials and follow the guidelines for
returning to worship.
There are many logistics that need to be dis-
cussed and given careful attention to ensure a safe
return to in-person worship. Although wearing a
mask and maintaining proper social distancing are good places to start, we must remain cognizant
about state, county, and municipal health officials’
recommendations. We as the church, have a moral
obligation to protect our neighbors and do every-
thing we can to ensure that our church buildings are
places where everyone, not just the least vulnerable
to this virus, can gather safely. Although an exact
date cannot be placed on the time we would
recommend to return to in-person worship,
we can start preparing now so we are ready to care
for our communities and create worship spaces that
are safe for everyone.
Therefore as congregations consider return-
ing to worship, I would recommend a congre-
gational task force be formed to aid the lead-
ership in preparing for in-person worship.”
Here at Immanuel, the task force is being
lead by Diann Pribbernow. If you would like to be
on the task force to return to worship please give
her a call or email her.
The responsibilities of the task force “will
include what sanitizing procedures will be put in
place by the congregations, a recommendation on
how to proceed with worship, and a template as
to what criteria will need to be met before in-
person worship can occur. The plan should ad-
dress questions such as…How will offering be
conducted? Who will ensure the congregational
members are wearing masks? How will commun-
ion be handled? What environmental parameters must be accomplished before returning to wor-
ship? (Example – Badger bounce back phase 3, de-
crease in local positive cases, etc.)” (Task Force
Guide – East Central Synod of Wisconsin)
In the meantime, we are preparing for a
drive in service in the parking lot on July 19 at 9am. All the details are still being worked on,
but will involve listening to me through a low watt
radio frequency. It will be the first step to return-
ing to a “new normal” for Immanuel. I pray that
the Holy Spirit will watch over us as we proceed.
Bishop Mansholt concludes with, “I under-stand the desire to return to our church buildings
and gather for worship as soon as possible, but we
must not return without a plan and proper safety
protocols. Even then, we must remain attentive to
the environmental situation the virus is causing.
We are currently in Phase One of the Badger
Bounce Back Plan which recommends gatherings
of 10 or less people. While Phase Two would al-
low for gatherings up to 50, there are many issues
to think through before proceeding. We have
been blessed with an opportunity to prepare and I
encourage us to make the most of this time.”
Be patient Immanuel. God is still with us.
Let us rejoice!
Yours in Christ
Pastor Mark Kinney

sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love,
and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” 1 Thessa-

The ILCW met June 10, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The meeting opened with a prayer by
Pastor Mark Kinney followed by the Lord’s Prayer. The Bible study was taken from Jonah 1:3 (Who’s in
Control) was discussed by the five members present, Nan Schmidli, Sally Gilson, Mary Judy, Barb Adams
and Jeanne Kiesow. The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read. Mission

It was decided not to separate the mission fund from the bank statement. The Open Door (Newsletter
of the East Central Synod Wisconsin Women) has informed us the Fall Retreat has been cancelled due to
Covid-19. Although the JDRF walk was cancelled in May we wil still donate $200.00 to JDRF.
Confirmation for Ryleigh Farkas has been rescheduled until October 25. Nan has received a nice dona-
tion of cards for the Sunshine Club.
New Business Happy birthday to Elsie Rieckmann and Sally Gilson for their June birthdays.

Fourth of July Celebrations
June 28 Fremont Fireworks @ 8:30 p.m.

July 4 Fireworks in Neenah, Arrowhead Park at dusk
On July 4, 1776, the 13 colonies claimed in their Declaration of Independence
from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Each
year on the fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this
historic event. Families often celebrate Independence Day by hosting or attending a
picnic or barbecue; many take advantage of the day off and, in some years, a long
weekend to gather with relatives or friends. Decorations ( e.g., streamers, balloons,
and clothing ) are generally colored red, white, and blue, the colors of the American
flag. Parades are often held in the morning, before family get-togethers, while fireworks
displays occur in the evening after dark at such places as parks, fairgrounds, or town
squares.[Wikipedia]
