COLLECTION COUNTING HELPERS The parish has struggled in recent months to have enough help on

Sunday mornings to count the weekly collection Volunteers seem to want their Sunday mornings to themselves Thus we would like to try a

different approach and seek some volunteers on Monday mornings following the daily mass to assist in counting the collections from the weekend masses This process should take no more than two hours

each week and the more volunteers we have the fewer times each one will have to be scheduled If you can volunteer to be a counter please call the office and let us know We will develop a schedule and let you

know of your turn

Going to be hospitalized Or homebound and canrsquot come to mass

Please call the parish office and let us know Because of privacy laws the hospital cannot call churches to tell us who is there unless the patient upon admission or upon specific request tells the staff they are Catholic and to which parish they belong

AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWAL HAVE YOU SIGNED UP YET Sign up forms are in the back of church or call Richelle in the parish office for more details TABLE OF HOPE Our local free meal program is still badly in need of a coordinator This would be someone to plan meals and supervise volunteers in serving the Monday Wednesday and Friday meals Please call Lori Duke if you may be interested 304-670-2652

This week Fifth Week in Ordinary Time Job 71-46-7 1Corinthians 916-1922-23 Mark 129-39

Background After his open ministry scene in the synagogue Mark gives Jesus a busy day in

Capernaum A the house of Peter and Andrew he first heals Peterrsquos mother-in-law (thus we know at least Peter was married) and then the house is swamped with people wanting cured

and demons cast out Jesus must have been exhausted But he doesnrsquot sleep well for he is up at dawn and off to pray in a deserted place He apparently is considering his mission to heal and cast out demons or to preach the Good News When the disciples find him he tells them

he want to go and preach the good news to other villages That will be his mission

Next Week Sixth Week in Ordinary Time Leviticus 131-244-46 1 Corinthians 1031-111 Mark 140-45
