IMMIGRATION IN JUNE, 1917.

The number of immigrant aliens admitted to the United States during the year 1916 was 355,767, as compared with 258,678 for the year 1915, an increase of 97,089, or 87.5 per cent. During the current year the figures for the first six months show a considerable falling off of immigration. For April, however, the number of immigrant aliens admitted shows an increase of 32.3 per cent over the number ad- mitted in March. During May, immigration reached the point of low ebb, only 10,487 immigrant aliens having been admitted, the smallest total for any month in many years. As compared with April, the figures for May show a decrease of 48.9 per cent. The figures for June indicate an increase of 5.5 per cent over those for May.
